Just wondering.. how solo'able (new word) is WoW... I've played FFXI and it drives me nuts that at the higher levels you need to party to get anywhere.. usually my schdeule is so chaotic that I can never organize things in advance.. and i hate playing with people i don't know.. (i have issues...)

Not very. It can be done, but there's a large amount of gameplay that can only be achieved by working in groups.

In WoW, you'll have instance dungeons that are packed with "elite" monsters. As a result, you have to work in groups in order to down these tougher monsters. If you have a good guild that will work with you, doing these instances can be a lot of fun, but if you don't.... you'll end up having to get into pick-up groups and about 75% of the time, these PUGs are idiots.

But again, it is possible, but you'll be missing out on a lot of things, and that can be frustrating.

Oh, and on a side note, you can probably do video searches and you can see how bad some jerks can be.

I play solo a lot as well. You can definately play solo in WoW. There are tons of quests and the vast majority of them you can do alone. Also you don't need a group to do things like the battlegrounds.

The only real thing you'll miss out if you only play solo are the instances. These are basically elite dungeons that require many players to complete.

I doubt you'd be playing solo 100% of the time, though, so you'll even get to see these if you choose.

Yeah, its more one of those, I prefer to play solo so thats what id do 90% of the time.. and if i felt like teaming up with someone then at least its an option to try something new.. hmm Ill have to think about this now.....

Honestly, it couldn't hurt to get a trial version and try it out. Of course, I have very few good things to say about that game, but that's just me.

And if you can hook up with people you know and trust, you'll get a lot more enjoyment out of the "group" aspect of WoW.

Deraj is right, you can do almost anything in game solo and still enjoy the game. But to get the better gear and whatnot, you need to find a group to go to these instances to get them to drop. There are plenty of instances though that you can solo once you're a few lvls above the mobs inside. Like shadowfang keep, at say, 35ish you can solo it and make some decent gold. At 60, the best and last one that you can feasibly solo is Scarlet Monestary. There are 4 instances inside the building and at 60 you can run through and mop up.

I am fortunate enough to be in a very family type guild, that loves to do things as a group, but doesnt require it. My first guild was ALL about raids, so until you were their level, you were on your own.... The one I'm in now doesnt have a lvl 60 requirement(I got in cause of a close friend with my first guild) and there are soo many people of all levels that can do just about anything.

Wait till you do Molten Core, that is the place where I got my complete epic gear (for warlocks I think it was called felheart or something like that).

With the new expansion it totally blows all that old gear in them original dungeons out of the water... soon as you do a few quest in outland or whatever you get something that overides that stuff greatly... it is very off blanced at the moment and that was with WoW's first expansion and EQ whenever they brung out a new expansion it "slowly" had better gear progress until recent days of course you can pretty much remove (I think) POD and back for the "majority" of the players... they do not even go to them elder regions no more... and here WoW did it within ONE expansion and it took EQ years to do that... ah well whatever Blizzard wants to do I guess. I will still be fun to run about them original dungeons (when able) and do them sense I never had a chance too before

I am this l_l close to getting into WoW. It's all my boss talks about at work. The stories that he tells about his killing sprees are hysterical. He goes all out and does the TeamSpeak and everything. He has LAN parties where his son comes in from out of town and they play WoW together all weekend. I have a demo disk, thinking about giving it a whirl this weekend.

Be careful though petra, WoW is VERY addicting... I did the trial version back in October, and after a week, bought the full version and havent logged into UO more than 5 times since...
