Final Fantasy XI : 7,900 Banned or Suspended
SquareEnix, the company behind Final Fantsay XI, has announced that they have recently banned or suspended 7,900 accounts for various infractions against the user agreement. They have also released a report from their Special Task Force on the issue.

We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

Based on the results of our investigation, around 6,750 PlayOnline accounts were terminated while around 1,150 accounts were temporarily suspended.
Additionally, we have increased the number of mass bannings against certain PlayOnline violations in order to prevent illegal acts.

eeep! I know Carp & Vord just started playing. Hopefully they can give us some insight also.

Thats a lot of accounts to lose i would imagine.

i found ff was more geared toward the younger generation so i have not played since the sega days

It is for making money (or gil) illegally and 3rd pary programs to dupe stuff... etc.. the same story that UO has heard for years...

They are VERY strict on those type of people... I am actually amazed on how serious they take this stuff and the economy has been pratcially the same sense launch.. almost.. a little bit of a change from what Voradan said

And this game is geared for more kids? I guess sense it is on the Play Station 2 and now X Box 360 and all but I have found LOTS of people my age and older on here... and tons of Japanese but that is to be expected =P I do not think it is very geared towards kiddie binks at all but then again I am kind of a kid at heart at times so... =P

I am glad they got rid of all them accounts if they are doing stuff illegally I have seen so many games destroyed from 3rd party programs (the ones that allow people to dupe and power through the game and not earning your way through)

I always liked the FF games Life is the Dance and Honor, the Dance is Death to those we oppose, Honor is our salvation. Without Honor the Dance is meaningless forms and we are nothing.

To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.
