During a travel near the
north mines of Minoc
where I was taming
timber wolves and bears,
I saw a huge winged
beast staring at me. I
was petrified. The
monster began to walk

with calm and
determination in my
direction. Only listening to
my instinct, I ran through
the village next to the
mines. The infernal beast
raised in the air, with a
terrifying howl, and tried

to throw fireballs at me.
Using the trees to fool
the ennemy, I managed to
avoid some damage. As I
was hardly sweating, I
tried to calm down the
creature, but all my
talent wasn't enough to

convince it. But finally I
provoked a black bear an
diverted the monster's
attention. During the
combat, I cast some
fireballs but I rapidly ran
out of black pearl. The
black bear died with

honor, but I needed
another idea to stop it.
I threw some magic
arrows to enlarge its
wounds. Suddenly I felt a
violent burn. Shouting my
pain I rolled in the grass
and finished my course

behind a slope.
Although every move was
hurting me, I called the
spirit of the dead bear
to help me. A cold energ
relieved my pain and gave
me the strength to roll
my drums. The nearest

[Page 7]
animals raged towards th
ennemy and charged it.
Hobbling from my hide, I
helped the animals with
some magic arrows. Then
I felt unconscious a
moment. When I opened
my eyes, I saw the

corpse of the monster,
its blood flowing out on
the grass. A hind was
sniffing my ear. I pointed
a large smile out, but
soon a headache forced
me to clench my teeth. I
found some rewards on

[Page 9]
the corpse, then I drew
quick sketch of the
beast.
Later, back to Minoc, I
asked what was this
creature. Obviously it was
a gargoyle. So I'm proud
of having my first

[Page 10]
gargoyle killed. But I
won't go back to the
northern mines for a
moment. I'm having a
break at the tavern and
we'll see what tomorrow
will bring...
