[Biography] - West of Trinsic Vol.1

[Title] - West of Trinsic Vol.1
[Author] - Salvius

[Page 1]
I tell a tale of long
ago, of the days before
Trinsic was burned,
the days when the
orcs ruled the north,
the days before Yew,
and the days of Great
Lords and Ladies and

[Page 2]
the says of Dread
Lords and Dread
Ladies.
My name is Elden
Lockhammer. I grew
up in a peaceul
fishing village west
of Trinsic, at the

[Page 3]
mouth of the greater
half of the Trinsic
River. Life there was
the same as it had
been five hundred
years ago. Nothing
ever changed. It was a
peaceful existance.

[Page 4]
Every day we cast our
nets in the lake at
dawn. Everyday at
noon we reeled them
in. By five o'clock we
had cooked the fish
and dried them.
Every month, we

[Page 5]
went to Trinsic to sell
the food. I loved that
life. I shall never
forget the day it
changed...

'Twas seven o'clock
in the morning when

[Page 6]
we caught something
unusual in our net. It
was a small boat made
of pine with a flat
bottom. It was shaped
like a rectangle. On
it's bow was written
'Doom' and on its stern

[Page 7]
was written 'Hope'.
When we pulled it in,
we pulled off the
blanket covering the
top, and to our
surprise, there was a
girl inside. She was
about my age, fifteen,

[Page 8]
and looked extremely
scared. My father
asked her what her
name was, but she
couldn't speak.

"Well," he said, "she
can't speak, and she

[Page 9]
obviously cannae
support herself, so
we may as well take
her in. 'Tis the right
thing to do."

"Aye, 'tis," said I,
amazed at her beauty.

[Page 10]
We named her
Filia Fluminis,
because she came
from the river. Over
the next few years,
she managed to learn
how to talk and
understand us when

[Page 11]
we spoke to her. As
every day went by, I
began to love her more
and more. I could tell
she loved me as well.
Finally, my father
said it was time she
went to Trinsic with

[Page 12]
us to sell our goods, as
she was now
'cultured' enough to be
seen in public. On our
way there, as always,
we stopped at a shrine
to pray and to get
omens. It was there

[Page 13]
that something strange
happened.
As we approached
the shrine, she began
to shake and tremble.
The priestess came
out to greet us, but
drew back at the sight

[Page 14]
of her.

"Evil!" she shouted.
"Throw her in the
river! She is evil! You
have three weeks to
purge yourself of
her, or her daemons

[Page 15]
will destroy you and
everyone you know!
Listen to me well. You
must destroy this
wench who you call
Filia Fluminis.
Destroy her before
three weeks, or pay

[Page 16]
the price!"

By this time, we were
running away,
dragging Filia with
us, who was weeping
and tearing her hair.

[Page 17]
"Don't worry, my
child," said my
father, "she's just
another insane
priestess. There are a
lot of them these
days."

[Page 18]
I, however, became
worried. Could the one
I loved really be
possesed by an awful
daemon?

One night, she
approached my father

[Page 19]
while we were sitting
in front of the fire.

"I must go north," she
said.

"Why?"

[Page 20]
"I don't know. I must."

"Elden, will you take
her? I am too old to go
to the north country."

"Of course, father!"

[Page 21]
We left the next
morning. It was
raining. It took us a
week to reach Britain.
Once there, she
confronted me.

"I must go alone from

[Page 22]
here. It is too
dangerous for you to
follow me. I am going
into the heart of Orc
Country."

"No barriers can
seperate us, Filia.

[Page 23]
Where you go, I go."

"If you must."

Many long nights
followed. Nights
spent hiding in
bushes, watching Orc

[Page 24]
patrols march by,
nights spent in the
cold rain, and even
nights in the snow.
Finally, we arrived at
an abandoned manor.
It was about halfway
between the pass west

[Page 25]
of Britain and where
Yew is today. It was
there that she started
to tremble again.
Suddenly, she yelled out.

"Father!"

[Page 26]
At this, the earth
opened up at our feet.
I could see straight
down to the scorching
depths of Hell itself.
Out from this hole came a daemon, the
likes of which I never

[Page 27]
wish to see again. He
was made of evil and
fire.. pure evil, and
fire.

"Yes, daughter?"

"Please let me go!"

[Page 28]
"You? You? You are
the essence of evil.
You are the daughter
of me, Lord of All
Evil. You are cursed
among humans, an
outcast. You will
never be free, unless

[Page 29]
of course, this man
helps you. If he
assumes all your evil
you will be free."

"And how do I get rid
of the evil?"

[Page 30]
"you have to kill me."

"Isn't that impossible?"

"No. You must talk to
the monk at Empath
Abbey. Only he

[Page 31]
knows."

"But that is all the
way through Orc country!"

"Do you think killing
ME is easy? If you

[Page 32]
truly love her,
however, this will be
nothing to you."

"I do love her, and
from this moment on
take on all her sins,
all her evils, her

[Page 33]
curses, and her
father as my own."

"Done!" cackled the
daemon. "From this
moment on, you are
the accursed of all
man. Everyone shall

[Page 34]
shun you, people will
throw rocks at you in
the streets, men will
curse at you, and
women will hate you.
Only by killing me
may this curse be
removed. Now go to

[Page 35]
Empath Abbey. And
may luck go with you.
You're going to need it."

"Good shall precail!"
said I. "Filia, go home
and wait for me. I
will come to marry you."

[Page 36]
For a whole week, I
travelled through the
forests of the north,
hiding from the orcs
by day, traveling by
night. Once, a patrol
got so close, I could
hear one of their

[Page 37]
scouts breathing.
Every night, I would
sneak along the forest
floor, knowing that
one false move would
mean my death. On
the eighth day of my
journey, I reached

[Page 38]
Empath Abbey. At
that time, Yew did not
exist, so Empath
Abbey was the only
building in the area. I
drew in my breath,
and knocked on the
solid iron door.

[Page 39]
A short, bald-
headed monk opened
the door.

"I must speak to the
head monk."

"Follow me."

[Page 40]
I was lead to the
office of the head
monk. He smiled at
me when I walked in.
"Hello, my son.
Please sit down."
