Love Lost & Broken Heart

My wanderings amongst the Land of Trammel has placed this chest in my possesion. Finely inscribed: Inside This Box is the Key to my Heart, Yours to Keep Forever. I knew in my hand, I held a couple's greatest joy, but I also knew that if it was in my posession, that it was no longer joyous times. Carefully inspecting the chest for traps and finding none, I opened the chest.

The chest contained a diamond, a key, and a book. Symbols of Love and a future for the former owners. A future that will never be. A couple that once was. All tokens of sadness now. I carefully lifted the book and cold chills ran down my spine. I opened the book, and began to read and bare witness to what once was.

Sadness filled me. I felt her pain instantly, but I continued to read on. Seeing her moments of joy and sadness flash through my mind. The betrayl. Perhaps, a business opportunity lay at hand. Murder and revenge are specialties covered in my profession.

I fought the tears, but I could not stop them. It was good I was alone, for any baring witness to my moment of humanity would surely die today. Words came to my mind.....

Oh gentle winds 'neath moonlit skies,
Do not you hear my heartfelt cries?

Below the branches, here about,
Do not you sense my fear and doubt?
Side glistening rivers, sparkling streams,
Do not you hear my woeful screams?

Upon the meadows, touched with dew,

Beneath the thousand twinkling stars,
Do not you feel my jagged scars?

Seek not my mournful heart kind breeze,
For you'll not find it 'mongst these trees.

It's scattered 'cross the moonlit skies,
Accompanied by heartfelt sighs.
It's drifting o're the gentle rain,
A symbol of my silent pain.

It's buried 'neath the meadow fair,
Conjoined with all the sorrow there.
It's lost among the stars this night,
Too far to ease my quiet fright.

No gentle winds, seek not my heart,
For simply ... it has torn apart.
