Where did all the Baja activity go? - Page 2

Yah, Leatherus had a POOR connnection. So all he did was decorate and the library. I let him set up runebook vendors at Paul mart (he lagged too bad to go anywhere NEAR skymall) to generate income so he could continue building. Man.... I still remember the fountain on the roof.

Also ran with Richard, Mcthugger, Mother, Silly Mage,

Speaking of poor connections.. I started playing UO when I only had a 33k modem.. it was rough, but I needed my UO and that's all I had..

Even used to attempt Factions PVP with that modem.. I was always the first to fall.

I started playing Baja in March of '98 on a modem. Not too long after that, I got ISDN (I'm sure a few of you will remember ISDN).

Mage Tower has been wanting to relive an event from 10 years ago on Baja... back then it was called the AllMeet. It was a coming together series of events for all the guilds on the shard. MT would like to host it again. Trick has been finding people still around... or willing to come back to UO at least for the new AllMeet.

That sounds exciting! Be sure to keep us up to date.

That was my favorite part about UO, attempting to create a player run community. Not an easy task, though, I will continue to try now that I'm up and running again. I have also noticed that Baja people these days don't talk much...

And yes, I played on a 28.8 at first. Then rocked my WORLD with a 56K!!! Used that from 2000 to 2003.

Yea my first modem was a 33.6k'er, then "upgraded" to a 56k one
AOL dialup to a west coast shard...all the way from the UK, what was I thinking? hehe

When I had that ISDN, about half the time when I logged in... Baja would crash. My guildies would ICQ me asking, "You just tried to login again... didn't you?!". Surely it was coincidental.

But they did start calling me ServerKiller. ;)
