What to do with all these gems?

Hello all,
I am totally new to UO and started with a miner. Well, I GMed in it and am finding all these gems and I have tried selling them to the jewler but he won't buy them. What can I do with them? Thank you in advance for any help.

I believe they're used to make some of the newer weapons & Jewlery. I'm not sure who will buy them though. I would hold onto them for now, I'm sure a smith/tinker could find good use of them.

Gems with names other than 'ruby, diamond, emerald"? Such as Fire Ruby, Blue Diamond. These are valuable to crafting new weapons and armor with the recipes gotten from Heartwood. I am not sure what the going prices are, but they should sell to crafters if you can find interested parties. NPCs won't touch them.. as you discovered. Welcome to UO! Keep the Ecru Citrines, especially. They are extremely valuable and can be sold to other players for quite a lot of gold. I read one reply on the Stratics Miner's forum that Ecru Citrines can be sold for 60k gp apiece. Good money!

Yeah, anything besides Ecrus arent in huge demand. People will still buy them though...I see the others regularly on Luna vendors for around 10k per, I Think...

All depends if your Miner is also/going to become a Smith.

If this is your plan you will need the Gems yourself. You can learn the reciepes to the new weapons at the smithy in the Elf town in Yew.

If you don't want to use the Gems check vendor prices at peoples homes and sell them to Smiths at the town forges.

I'd stick with Tinkering and waste *cough* use them all on rings just to see if anything useful comes out.

you can start a vendor up and sell them in bulk. Sell by 10 for 50k each, 5k per, which is standard on atlantic. Ecru citrines are worth more only because they can be used to make the ecru citrine ring which sometimes has +75 EP on it. They normally go for around 20-25k per on atlantic. Anything more than that is pushing it.

edit: my mistake, it's more like 40k per for an ecru citrine. The price I was thinking was pre-dupe bannings.

Tailors also need them to make special quivers like:
Quiver of fire takes 15 fire rubies per quiver
Quiver of ice takes 15 white pearls per quiver

also Blue diamonds are used to recharge the weapon engravers tool ...

and they all make pretty decorations for our homes :grin:

Im fairly certain that the Eccru ring always has the 75% EP on it, its the other mods (if any) that are random...
