I have been looking around for a few ideas on this sort of template. Instead of the usual Mage/Tamer, what about attacking them hands on!

I have been looking at somewhere along the lines of:
120 Taming
120 Animal Lore
120 Veterinary Or Healing
120 Swordsmanship/fencing/mace fighting
100 Tactics
120 Anatomy

Stats:
??? Str
??? Dex
??? Int

Would anyone like to add there comments, Its going to be tamer first warrior second, and it will be a roleplay character so no + to skills from items

It might work if you replaced anatomy with chivalry, that's what i'd do.

Chivalry would definitely be a better choice then anat. At this time you have no way to heal yourself other then pots and HPR on armour (as a roleplayer you may not be able to use armour with properties). Stats I would suggest something like 100 str, 100 dex and 55 intel. You might even consider being an elf for the extra 20 mana

You will HAVE to go with Vet, as you can't heal your pet with Healing. The template would be too cramped to do anything with to be honest. You'll either have low damage or low healing (changing either Anat or Tactics for Healing, or keeping Tactics and picking up Chiv) due to stat constraints.

Examples:

120 Vet/Lore/Taming
120 Swords/Anat
100 Healing

This will force you to go with High Dex/High Strength to stay alive yourself if you are targeted with low defense and low-moderate damage.

Or

120 Vet/Lore/Taming
120 Swords/Tactics
100 Chiv

This will force you to go with High Strength/Moderate Dex & Int to insure you have mana to heal (Close Wounds/Cleanse by Fire) and hit a little harder (EEO/Consecrate Weapon) but slower and low defense.

I'd go the Tactics/Chiv route and stay Human to have the JOAT bonuses and HPR+2.

No need for 120 taming, unless your RP requires the legendary tamer title. At 102 taming (101.1 is min to ame CU and reptalon), and 120 lore, you have 97% control over CU and reptalon. Firesteed is only one out of reach.
Taming has no other benefit than control chance, so you want only the minimum amount. Lore is used for control and vet heals, so that is more important.

120 vet
120 Magery (use mage wep, lowest possible skill loss). This is healing, transport (gates), and resurrection. Most importantly, it gives you the option of using invis while hunting when you get ganked by monsters.
75 chiv - use all pally abilities, m ost with 100% sucess.
70 / 90 swords/macing /fencing (only if you want both special moves). This is for special moves, as your mage weapon skill will be higher. Mage skill will then be used to calculate hit chance
93 tactics

Total 700 skill points.

I always forget about Mage weapons, although you'd have to pay out for the good ones.

My suggestion would be

110 - Taming (120 is only used for people who truely desire the title)
110 - Animal lore
100 - Vet
120 - wep skill
100 - tactics
100 - anatomy
60 -chivalry


(total with out vet bonus = 700 skill points) with each year up to your 4th year, you get an additional 5 full skill points (overall cap of 720) you can toss anywhere in between. I would use them for vet etc.

as for your stats, it truely depends on what this template would be based for pvm/pvp and what not and who will be doing the most direct attacking (you or the pet) this template also allows 4/6 casting which is great for a tamer who heals a lot. It also gives the player full control of all ingame pets and the ability to tame all of them with a sufficient taming ability.

Now if you got some of those in my price range, they won't be there for long.

oh, THOSE. there are only 2 that I know of. Will check uostuff / stratics for more.

Those should only be the only 2.

There is always the Staff of Power...its only a -15 Mage Wep and usually only a few k.

Heres a thought: If you are at your cap, lets say GM Magery, and equip a -skill mage wep and then put on +magery jewels, what would happen?
