i've played for 3 or 4 days now and still having some problems.

1. Quests - in new haven, I did some of the skill related quests that require you to get to 50 pts. I've also done a lot of escorting in the area. However, once I left New Haven, the only quests I find are escort quests to towns that I have no clue where they are or how to get to them. Are there other quests I'm missing? Or better yet, is there a beginner questline I missed somewhere that takes me on a tour of the land to show me around?

2. I tried getting a pet to help with the weight of mining but while I was smelting at the mine near new haven, something came up and smacked my mule with a one shot kill. Is there a way to protect my pack pet?

3. Housing - good lord is there anywhere I can place a house? It seems like no where I try works. Maybe I need to move to a less populated shard? I'm guessing the main problem is overpopulation combined with years of people scouting leaving me with few remaining options. I've read other posts where people bought a house only to find that it's in an area where they get attacked every time they go home, so I'm extremely hesitant to buy from a pc.

4. Trade - is there anything in this game that sells for less than 1mill? every pc vendor i've looked at has completely crazy high prices on everything. how do I tell a good weap/armor/etc from a not so good one so I know I'm not throwing my money away? It seems most have pretty much the same stats (attack and speed for weaps, 5-10% resists on armors) so I must be missing some little detail that is important and makes this stuff so expensive.

5. I've read other posts saying join a guild, but I've also been told in game that some guilds are run by griefers. What is the best way to find decent people to join up with?

6. From what I gather, some of my problems are happening because I have the uokr client instead of the older client. Apparently the 2d version is much better and easier, according to those I've talked to in game and from what I've read on the boards. Is there a way for me to switch to 2d even though i have KR?

I can't remember exact server but it's one of the lakes ones.

If you click on this link you will find a ton of quests to do in game.


If you can be patient and wait a week,buy a pack horse,feed it and then stable it.After a week, claim it back from the stable,feed it again, and it should 'bond' to you.

This means you can get the pet resurrected [ usually a good place is at West Brit Bank,where Tamers hang out].

I am not sure if to get anything back that he was carrying ,wether you have to return to his corpse,like with your character,or wether it will be in the pack horses bag on rezz.

I cant advise with housing on your shard,as I am on Europa,but I am sure some one will post some help/ideas.


Again, you need a friendly shard member to make you some items for a cheaper price.

There are some good guild members who post here.I cant remember off hand who is on Great Lakes /Lake Superior,but I am sure some one will answer soon.

Did you download KR only from the EA site?

If so,the only way you can play 2d is by purchasing a cd.

You will need Mondains Legacy to access all the lands.

If you can manage longer,there is an expansion due out soon though,and you could purchase that instead.

I still prefer the KR Client tho, i have high hopes that they will improve and fix it in the near future ... even tho i am aware of the fact that the ML Client is far superior in terms of playability. (scripts and macros)

I am new in UO too, it's an awesome game, have fun with it and enjoy playing with an outstanding gaming community ... i am on Europa and the community is very helpful and kind, i fell in love with that shard.

UO is overpopulated sadly when it comes to housing.

The economy is buggered... its not easy for a new person. But you dont need the best items at start anyhow..

UO is filled with immature children... have patience.. you will meet more mature people as well.. There are plenty of them too they just dont stick out as these others.
