I used to have some maps with places that were good to go hunting for different skill levels. But so much has changed in the game from my time, that I am having a hard time keeping interested.
It seems like I am the only "new" player, and no one hunts normal monsters anymore. Does anyone give two glances to an orc fort anymore? lol I never like power gaming, so I want to build my skills as a natural extension of playing the game, but I have no idea how to do anything anymore, it seems. lol All my knowledge is antiquated. Anyone offer any suggestions of fun things low skill level characters can do, or places where new players end up?

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
Orc forts a good spot. My husband who has been playing for 3 years leads a sheltered uo life cause i'd build his characters for him... except for one so he'd learn. He loved the orc fort so much I made his home into one.
its a pretty good rendition if i do say so myself. The one outside of umbra a ways down the road before you go thru the mountain to luna is a good spot because theres several different types of orcs for different levels but not too much. When I started the game the first level of shame was the place to be... fighting the scorpions (or running from them if you didnt have enough healing) and the earth eles. Then if i thought i was up to it daring to go downstairs to see the air eles. This was months of my life in this dungeon... not a day like i'd need to spend now. Oh god I just sounded like one of those jerks I hated when i started playing the game. Thats it im going to bed! |

What shard you play on? I haven't been on lately cause my cable isn't hooked up in the new apartment but maybe we can hunt around if you're on the Catskills shard

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
Well, I went to Atlantic cause a couple of real life friends are on it. But it's not like I have progressed so far that it would hurt to start a new character on a different shard. I used to play on catskills a little bit, it used to be pretty active with RP. No idea now.
Edit> Oh, it's not like I have even seen my RL friends in the game since I started. lol I am resisting using ICQ. I hated it years ago, and I hate it now.

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
Surprisingly the monsters you used to fight are not so bad still. Shame as mentioned above works great. Also if you are a bit to low in your skills for a earthe ele or scorp try Despise. It's lizard men are great for beigners and the other levels ahve a good progression of monsters from trolls, ettins, and ogers, all the way up to titans cyclopian warriors and ogre lords.

Aye.. what Barne said! I'm a huge Shame/Despise addict.. trained all my characters in those dungeons exclusively.. just created a new character with Peacing on it and have never played with that skill before.. so back to shame/despise I go again. If you happen to check out Sonoma, drop me a note.. can always use the company!

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
Shame and Despise are great, I also stayed in Cove for a couple weeks. Stayed with the corpsers, then moved down to the gazers and then the harpies.
Oh and I'm in Atlantic too. |

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
Thanks, both of you. I think I'll go fight some hordes.
I do have a sinking suspicion that I will be completely remaking my character a few times on different shards just searching for like-minded people to hang with.

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
I'm not a strict player anyone which way. I just want to get back into the swing of things, but am finding myself low on inspiration.
I did a lot of rp style pvp, but I keep seeing here and there that rp is pretty much dead. Does anyone know if "caina" is still around on ice island?

Re: Trying to get into the swing of things.
lol I wouldn't mind, but I need to get into the groove of things more before I make my home in fel. Then again, maybe that's what I need? Re-learn the hard way?
