Re: Treasure maps.

If it is level 1 then you can still do it.

Level 1 - Plainly Drawn
Level 2 - Expertly Drawn
Level 3 - Adeptly Drawn
Level 4 - Cleverly Drawn
Level 5 - Deviously Drawn

If it is anything but a level 1, you're outta luck. If it is a level 1, though, set your cartography skill to go up and start trying to decode it, and you should be able to decode it with relatively little skill.

If you succeed, please remember that when you dig up the chest you'll need the Unlock spell to open it.

Re: Treasure maps.

My map is plainly, so i still have a chance. Think i will just temporary increase my mapmarking skill, still have some free skill points. About this unlock spell - can buy a scroll or a rune for it?

Re: Treasure maps.

You're also gonna need the telekenisis (sp?) spell. Once you unlock the chest you dug up. Use that spell on the chest you dug up, to release the trap, but make sure you're a couple of tiles away.

Re: Treasure maps.

All this looks much too complicate for me. Think i will better leave the map in the bank for now and sell it later.

Re: Treasure maps.

About the treasure location finding - how do i use a sextant? Is there a way to know the coordinates of the treasure spot?

Re: Treasure maps.

I use UOAutomap and look up the coordinates. Also a lot of players have map finders on thier sites. Click my sig for one of them

The coordinates are the same for each shard so you can locate them with any web site but then it helps if you find a rune library on your shard. Many folks have books with all the t-map runes in them (I have one on Great Lakes)

Re: Treasure maps.

We use UO Auto Map for our coordinates on T-Maps and SOSs ... sextant works well, but it seems best for me to actually see the map with the data in place. I have to refer back to it as I go, but it works.

Re: Treasure maps.

I use Automap, a sextant, and The Treasure Hunters site on stratics to do maps.
http://uo.stratics.com/thb/info/mapa...Archive1.shtml

Also, don't forget when you dig up a t map, spawn pops up with it. The higher level the map, the harder the spawn. When you are doing a high level map, it can be a great fun group activity.

Re: Treasure maps.

How strong is that unlock spell? I couldn't open my first treasure chest, it sayed that the spell has no effect. If i will increase my magic skill will i be able to open all types of chests, or there is some limit?

Re: Treasure maps.

with magic you can only open the first two levels of chests......I believe that you need 100 Magic to open the level 2 chest.

If you want to be a treasure hunter you realy need to do lockpicking. Also you will need help to assist you with the higher level chests.

Good Luck

Re: Treasure maps.

Well, actually, i want to be everything There is so many important skills, and 700 skill points are almost nothing. Right now my character is some weird combitation of warrior and mage, don't know how long i will be able to continue with it. There is definatly no place for lockpicking too. Hope i will be able to do the first level maps, the highest are not real.

Re: Treasure maps.

The first level maps are easy with only a small spawn of lesser monsters and most of chests are in places with no real worrys, your mage needs to be able to do unlock, and telekinisis to open the chest from a distance, as they are traped and sometimes on level one maps the trap is worst then the spawn.
Have fun
