It's a little late in the day to ask the question, but still...
I've been training Tracking and Detect, which is quite possibly the most tedious thing I've ever done in UO (scripting it has grown more and more tempting as the weeks have passed).
I'm now at 100 Detect and 98.1 Tracking, and now all I want to do is finish the tracking off, and get it over with (the 98.1 taunts me).
Problem is, I can either spend weeks GGSing it, which is a bit passive for my liking. Or I can grind it, which will take about 10-20 hours solid (one gain every 30-60 minutes), which kind of defines "meaningless grind".

Bearing in mind that you don't actually need to track anything, it's simply the initial skill use that gets the skill check that can result in a gain, can anyone think of a third option to save my sanity?

Since tracking is seldom used and hardly if ever near GM. I think your just going to go insane .

I would recommend a mixture of GGS and grinding. Work it for 45 to 60 minutes a day. That way it doesn't drive you crazy in the endless grind but your not waiting just for a GGS gain

I just want the number to be a nice one... 98.2 (yay!) is so untidy, whereas 100.0 is like... perfection...
There won;t even be a really noticable different, since I don't even think there's a bonus for GM.
Gains are too slow for Alacrity scrolls...
It hardly seems worth trying the Satyr thing for 18 gains...

I guess this is why God invented DVD box-sets of syndicated TV Series.

Alacrity scrolls + GGS are your friends. (the timer for the scroll only counts while your in game)

Unfortunately, dearest Kimi is my most-played character, and she uses her tracking often

But that's pretty awesome

Don't want to use it on someone you play a lot. The idea is: Log in, get gain, log out, wait for appropriate time to pass and repeat process

I kind of pride myself on being the bane of stealthers, and without Tracking I'm reduced to being a mere nuisance
It'd be like Gordon Brown selling Lemonade in the street...

Now is the time to be thankful that UOA allows macros of 200 lines

UOA is a nice add-on. Hope they do something like that with KR

Ok, Tracking will work at lower levels, no?

Stone off what you have (98.2), create a new character with 50 Tracking, stone that off, put the 98.2 on the new character, put the 50 on the old character (to use until you can put GM on it) and use the alacrity scroll with the new character for GGS until GM.

I only have one full soulstone (what a nub), though I did hit 99 last night.
