Tips for raising melee

I haven't got a golem - nor do I know how to do that golem trick.
I have a character with fencing around 75. Most of the things that I try to fight are too tough. Any tips on where to go or how to raise these things in today's fast paced Britannia?

Re: Tips for raising melee

Sirus, there are several tricks you can do. the fastest way is if your melee skills are all above 65 including tactics then here is the fastest way I know of. First you must be guilded. Now go hire yourself a palliden (about 200 gold) take him home and tell him to guard you (for some reason you must say this command twice) then sit back and keep yourself healed. You will gain Fencing, Tactics, Anatomy and Healing this way. Warning this is not a way to unattend macroing as you will come back to find yourself dead.

Re: Tips for raising melee

Go to jhelom pit, the big fighting arena in jhelom.

Hire a 7gp warrior, best is if he aint got a weapon.. but got a shield. Otherwise use a weapon type to disarm him.. when you are able to do that.

7gp warrior till about 85-90 then 8gp warrior.

If you're on Great Lakes, once you hit 80 real weapon skill or enhanced to that with jewels, I'll build you a golem if you wish.

Re: Tips for raising melee

I've been trying this with fighters in Jhelom pit. They end up just dying rather quickly, even though I'm using the newbie dagger and healing them with bandages. Tips?

Re: Tips for raising melee

I had great gains from Solen. Once I got around 75-80 I would just do the Matriarch quest over and over. I got all my melee skills to 110 and made a fortune selling powder of translocation. (with the new bag of sending changes I don't know if it still sells well though)

Re: Tips for raising melee

Hmm i never had porblems with them dying... with a low dmg weapon one should be able to outheal the dmg easy.. Maybe try a harder more gp warrior?

Re: Tips for raising melee

Whatever happened to using a dagger on a stone harpy? Go to covetous and find yourself a quiet spot wiht plenty of bandages and shields and daggers and fight fight fight! Shoudl be able to gm most melee type skills that way? Or am I just too out of date?
