Tech questions

Hello, I am new to the forums here but I hope I can get this worked out.

1. After recently installing a brand new graphics card into my computer my Ultima client has been extremely slow. No ping increase or the like just a major slow down in my speed. Run 3 steps pause etc. The card is great other then this. All my other games are running better then ever. I did get the best drivers for the card that I coudl from the manufacture.

2. My macros in game wont save. I log in to one of my accounts and I set the macro log out and my account name shows my other accounts name. So when it gets saved it goes in the wrong desktop.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you,
T

Re: Tech questions

Have you tried manually copying the macros file over to the correct desktop/char you want?

Re: Tech questions

What kind of card? Slot, chipset, size, etc.

Like Adri said, make all the macros where they will save correctly and then go into the UO folder, find the macro folder that has the right ones and copy/paste it into the char that needs it. That should work...

Re: Tech questions

Alright the Macro issue has been resolved.

The graphics card issue is for two computers.

Computer #1
1.2 Ghz AMD Duron
768 mb ram
NVidia GeForce MX 420
- Installed latest drivers by Nvidia
- Tried Omega Drivers and a few others with no luck.

Computer #2
2.6 Ghz P4
512 mb ram
ATI Radeon 9250
- Installed latest ATI drivers found out they no longer support this card.
- Ran like crap
- Installed Catalyst 6.5 that supports the Radeon 9250.
- Ran better but still far worse then the onboard GFX card.
- Installed Omega Drivers and a few others but they really didn't help much

Both systems run everything else great. Just UO suffers. If I have them run on the onboard cards they do fine. I have tried disabling the onboard not disabling it etc etc with no luck.

Any other suggestions Im game to hear.

Thanks.

Re: Tech questions

Check and match up your display settings. Check refresh rate, color depth, display size, and all the frilly frilly poo-poo.

Turn off all the vertex shading ect. Also double check DX for current version, reinstalling may help.

Also are you playing in 2D or 3D. Both of those cards are older Gens, and new driver's won't help much. Try totally uninstalling drivers, and reloading older driver set from about time the card was in production.

Good Luck,

Re: Tech questions

Im running a AMD 3800, gig of RAM, 256Mb PCI-e nVidia, and and 3d is jumpy on mine too...

Re: Tech questions

Both computers are running 2d. I've never been a big fan of the 3d version.

As far as the motherboard goes I will update those drivers and see how things go. I have also tried disabling all of the features on the cards that would take more resources. Optimized everything for performance which made everything else run super fast except UO. The characters still move like they are in mud. Also the animations are slow for spells etc.

So like I said I will update the motherboards and see if that helps. Other then that though... Im still fishing for answers.

Re: Tech questions

Yea, i'd try the motherboard drivers

What is your motherboard make/model?
If it's an NVIDIA one, you can download a pack of drivers for your board
If it's a VIA one, they also offer the 4in1 driver pack

Re: Tech questions

Alright after looking at all updated drivers for the motherboard there is really nothing to help me. Most of it is for components on the board that have nothing to do with display (LAN etc.). So that idea is out the window.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Re: Tech questions

It won't be related to display, there's drivers for the chipsets on the board which are linked to display cards

What's your motherboard make/model?
