Stealing!

Whats the best way to raise your stealing skill? I've looked around a bit but can't find much up to date information on the skill. I've looked on stratics, but they aren't really known for having up to date essays on skills . Gains are excruciatingly slow even at 32 skill, so I figure I must be doing something wrong...

Re: Stealing!

Stealing is the same as it's always been, except now you don't need multiple targets. Just steal items that weigh about 1 stone for every ten points of stealing:

Gold doesn't work anymore. Just use items that are already the weight you need. (Scroll down.)

Re: Stealing!

Hi,

I haven't trained it myself but the following should help you further:-

0 – 60 find your self a packhorse. This will be your new best friend for the next few days. Fill his pack up with books (yeah the ones you read) and steal those. Steal book A, B, C till you gain, once you gain start back at A and continue down the line again until you gain.
60 – 100 start to use dye tubs or heavy pieces of armor. Use the same method as you did with the books. Be sure to do this in power hour, as you will be failing a lot trying to steal 10 stones.

Also when / if you hit a point where you no longer gain any skill, try wearing Plate gloves, or a gorget. To GM any of these skills, it will be to your benefit to wear plate arms (or around 7 to 10 AR) or a chain tunic

make sure you are in a populated area where NPCs can see you steal (“you notice Mr. Thief stealing a dye tub from The Horse.”)

Hope it helps, rgds

Re: Stealing!

I've just spent a little over 45 minutes training with my llama and have only a single gain to show for it. My skill level is 33.1 and I have been working with both three and four stone items. Am I doing something wrong here, or is it really this ridiculously slow to gain in stealing?
