Hi,

I'm just back to UO after a break of four years Was reading up and decided to try adding spellweaving to my mage. I'm at the exodus mobs part of the quest and I know must be doing something wrong lol. I've killed 5 of the exodus controllers (can't seem to find the minions) but have not received credit on the quest. I was at the enslaved gargoyle camp in a group with a tamer friend. Should I not be grouped? I read through the forums but probably missed a good thread

Any ideas why that would be? Is it worth it for me to add spellweaving?

I am dying all over the place heh. I dont recall this character being this difficult! Currently she is:

Eval Int 100
Inscription 100
Magery 100
Meditation 100
Wrestling 85.7 (well it seemed logical when I did it...)
Magic Resist 65.6
Alchemy 23.2 (because I lost my GM alchy when my other account was closed)
Taste ID 23.2

So the plan was to have alch/taste ID on her and drop wrestling. I'm a PVM player and one time rares collector. I'd like to whip this girl into shape again so I don't leave a trail of death shrouds like I have the past four days! hehe. Totally willing to drop alchy/id/wrestling in favor of survivability.

The minions are in a quite difficult place (at least where I find them). I take the compassion moongate in ilshenar and run left to a cave wall in the mountain.

From there I run left past the castle and then up to a valley that goes into a new area. While the gargoyle city would be a right turn from there, the minions are a left turn from there.

You run left, then, past the fire elementals, past the arcane demons and stuff into a building with lots of monsters in and around it. Take the bottom floor, and there's a teleporter area in the middle of the ground floor that takes you inside the temple so to speak.

This area is quite hard. If you haven't been there before, take one or two friends with you to act as healers and/or helpers. You can do it alone, but it can be hard (especially if you run into paragon minions and stuff).

p.s. I GM'ed spell weaving on one of my characters but then dropped it because it didn't quite fit my style. Some people like it. But the neat thing is that spell weaving has some nice spells at low level that are worth having even if you don't keep the skill points. They have a zero-skill heal spell that will even heal golems and pets and people a little bit, so that's worth having. If you're human and have jack of all trades, then you even have an automatic 20 SW skill with no real points if you finish the quest.

When your fighting any of the monsters for the quest you should not be in a party. Then you can take full credit for the creatures you kill.

My hubby and I are just reactivated our accounts. We tried to get there but died like oh a dozen times LOL

I think I'm going to be sure I'm comfortable playing again before I lose any more fame and become the "Fair" Wilis again hehe.

I should probably say, if you're mounted (for faster running), even a pretty weak character can eventually alone kill the minions in that place. It's just way harder (and way more fun, hehe).

Firstly, welcome back!!!!

I've done that quest with most of my characters. But spellweaving has one use, peerless champs. Another use might be all to go to Fel, 5 or so ppl with spellweaving - each summon 5 pixxies and order them on one guy. It works a treat, watch them run. Pixxies move at the same speed as a guy that is mounted. HeHe. Someone being chased by 25 pixxies will die, its soooo funny to watch, but not so when he returns with 6 friends with mass dispel pre-cast. I speak from experience.

But with regards to peerless, you need 90 skill to be able to cast Word of Death on the Champion, its also helpfull if 3-4 other people have 70+ skill so you can cast arcane circle, that bumps up your spells power.(Arcane circle requires everyone to be within 20 skill points of each other.)

With regards to the quest, its the bronze robotic things you need to kill, not the controllers. The quest can be done from heartwood, allowing a fairly new character to complete it. Accessing the quest via the dungeon is hard, but doing so allows you to obtain a scroll not otherwise accessable.

Also, try the dungeon to the north or Honor shrine. Once inside go South East until you get to through the desert area, then head south west, ure heading for the very large stone, square building. Once inside go through one of the wierd black holes in the floor. Its harder to get to that area, but its easier to complete the quest. Don't take any of the monsters on until you've gone through the black hole. Just RUN!!! Lol. Once inside head north, what your looking for resides there....

Wow. I really suck. I dont think I understand which way y'all are talking about. I've done nothing but run into paragons and chaos demons.

Take a character you don't use a lot, strip him/her naked, and let him/her get killed. Then go to the area we are talking about and explore thoroughly as a ghost. It will make it much easier for you to figure out what you're supposed to do if you know the place you're going to.

If you buy my character a horse, I can take you to where you have to go. But my char. on Oceania is alot green, so he'll just have to be a guide. Here's my icq so if you see me on, you can message me and I'll jump there to help yah.
