Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

Hello. I haven't actually gotten UO yet, but I'm planning to soon. I remember a long time ago my dad bought the game and it was pretty fun, but I was like 10 at the time I think Now I've just got some questions about it:

1) What's the monthly fee?

2) How easy is it to unsubscribe, and if so, how long does your account information stay active (I ask because I have a few months in the year when I can't play much, so I'd rather not pay for those months)?

3) How does PvP work? I mean, are there PvP/Non-PvP servers or what? I could swear back in the day that it was all PvP all the time, which was a turn-off.

That's all I've got question-wise for now. I'm going to pick up the anniversary collection tomorrow morning on my way back from work.

Re: Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

Well the monthly fees are 12.99,
You can turn it off at any time, you can opt for 2 ways. You can immediately disconnect it, or choose to run out your paid time left. Thing is tho, if you do own a house, they have a decay timer, where if you are inactive for 30 days, it will fall, and you will lose what was in it. So if you plan on taking a break, make sure to take your belongings you dont want to lose and put them in your bankboxes.

The pvp is limited to 1 of the 5 worlds. There are Feluccia(pvp world), trammel, Malas, Illshinar, Tokuno. You can pvp anywhere in Fel.

Thanks. I forgot about the House-decay feature. My guess is it takes a while to afford a house though

Re: Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

Being just back into the game I'll try to answer as best I can(feel free to correct)!

1. $12.99
2. click and ur inactive as soon as ur month paid is up
3. both PVP and non-PVP servers (non-PVP servers are really both with having Tram as non-PVP and Fel as PVP)

oops forgot about new lands

Re: Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

I'm confused. So there are certain lands in the servers where you can PvP, as well as PvP-all-the-time servers?

Re: Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

There are 2 PvP only servers. (Seige and Mugen) They have all 5 facets (lands). Depending on what part of the world you are in you may or may not have a good enough connection for them.

All the rest of the servers are a PvP/PvM mix. PvP is free for all in Felluca. PvP is available for guilds in the other 4 lands. So PvP is easy to get into and just as easy to stay away from, depending on what you want.

Re: Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

When yuo start an account, you are allowed to have 5 or 6 chars per shard. A shard is a server in the traditional sense, where you log in and play. There are around 20 shards total and you can have 6 chars on each of them (except 2) if you want.

There are 2 shards that are different from the rest, Siege Perilous and Mugen. These are different in a few ways, the most glaring being a PvP where ever you are situation.

All the other shards have 5 different land masses; Felucca, Trammel, Ilshenar, Tokuno Islands and Malas. The only place people are always free to attack you is Felucca.

Felucca and Trammel are nearly mirrors of each other in terms of locations and such but the other three are totally different.

As far as owning a house, Id say you could get a small one VERY easily on my shard or Catskills where a more populace shard like Atlantic might be a bit tougher but not something that would take you months or anything...

If you start an account and end up on Cats, post up here. I can try to give a starting hand and show you around some.

Re: Some Basic Ultima Online Questions

I don't think anyone has mentioned - you can also choose to pay your account 6 months at a time for $59.99. This makes it a little cheaper than the $12.95/mo (if it happens to work out that you can play 6 months straight).
