Hi,

What would be the best shard for me?

Im looking for : roleplay and events. And a lot of people too.

You'd probably want to try Lake Superior, Great Lakes or Atlantic, then. As much as it pains me to say, my home shard of Napa Valley is not dead but definitely dying. Sonoma, Lake Austin and Origin are all rather small in population as well. Oceania, Drachenfals and Europa aren't North American shards, so you'll have lousy speed on them at best. Same for the Asian shards.

Don't try Siege Perilous, as it's a different ruleset and a much different atmosphere.

When you choose a shard, and begin playing, you might come back here and browse through the specific forum for the shard you've chosen. Make a post, introduce yourself, and you'll find people here who play that shard who will be able to help you get better aquainted with the in-game world, help find you a guild to join (if you wish), et cetera.

Come to Pacific! We have several role play guilds around there, and it's fairly populated.

yep, Pac would be a good choice. Legends is also another low population one to avoid. Generally speaking the really big shards (Lake Superior, Great Lakes and Atlantic) have little or only moderate rp communities. You best bet for a combination of the two would be Pac or Catskills.

I've always heard that Great Lakes and Lake Superior were the best for role play. Atlantic is my home shard and it's crowded as all heck! Not that I'd ever move... I do love ATL.

Actually, not to get off topic but to give credit,

All shards have had amazing roleplayers and RP interaction at one point or another. Napa can surely boast of having some of the greatest RP moments in UO's history, as I'm sure each and every shard has. With the advent of shard transfers, time and other more "advanced" games coming onto the market, a lot of what once was is no more, and we can only remember a few of those many people, moments and ideas.

I simply wished to express this, so as not to slight any of the shards.

aah, I want that time back!!

Why people dont roleplay?
its so easy, and it makes the game a living world.
Some people, when they play, just never roleplay and transform the game into a serie of mechanism and procedures and rules.

Some even want to discuss about real life!!!
Damn! if I play a videogame, its to forget the real world.
I just want to be (in imagination of course) an elf in an imaginary world, for an hour or two.
I dont want to pay 13€ per month, to chat with others about my work, or about their wife.

I hope I will meet some "hardcore" roleplayers. Im sure I will.

However which ever shard you choose,there are representatives here of most of them ,and I know you will be taken good care of by whichever one you choose.
