When you get a rare plant or seed of some kind like a black one, how does it occur? Can a black plant grow from a colored seed and then you get black seeds from that? Or do you get a black seed from a colored plant? Do you get all 8 black seeds then or just one random one?

(In part I am trying to figure out if it is worth taking care of a crappy plant after you have one boring seed and I don't want that plant anyway... should I keep it until it has all its seeds just in case one is rare?)

Black or white plants can only be grown from black or white seeds. To get the 8 seeds, you have to have 2 plants that can be cross pollinated( i.e. plant A pollinates plant B and vice versa). I have never obtained a mutant plant (black or white seeds producing) with self pollination, which is using a plant's own pollen. Each of the eight black or white seeds will come from a rare occurance of a pollinated plant. Once you see the first seed is not black or white, it will not ever produce black or white seeds, and all 8 seeds will be the same color.
