problems with house customizing..

has anyone experienced this, or heard of a fix for it.. aside form calling a gm..

I redesigned my house, thinking that all my stuff would find its way into the moving crate... well i didn't. when i committed to my new design, most of the stuff just reappeard where it was.. the problem is that its now suspended in mid air on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors .. i can't reach it to pick it up. it doesn't fall when i unsecure it.. about the only way i can figure to get it down is to release it and then go in to custom mode again... thus ejecting everything from my house.. which i would perfer not to risk..

anyway.. any help would be great.. id perfer not to waste a GM's time if there is an easy solution....

I've never figured out how to be gracefully humble without appearing weak.

Nor have I figured out how to be gracefully passionate without appearing arrogant.

In the end, I always seem to be arrogant and weak instead of humbly passionate.

Yeah, this is an awful feature. It's a good thing for small, minor edits, but when I redo a house every 6-10 Months, its a real pain in the ass. The last time I did it, I had all my evil decor items lined up around the left and back walls, and they all ended up behind the wall. It took me about 15 minutes, but I got it figured out.

Re: problems with house customizing..

there are ways around the "clutter left behind ...

if it is a lock down and suspended in air ..
try lowering it with deco kit then release it (you should now be able to grab it)

if things are really a mess ...
just add walls on the messy tiles ... then save your home with the added walls ...
now go back into customize and delete the walls ...
everything that was where the additional walls were placed are now in your moving crate

of course you could always pack everything up before you start customization
but that really is time consuming

*goes back to customizing home again

Re: problems with house customizing..

I hate packing up things.. but as from my own experience, I find it is easier in the long run to pack up most things. If you decide to go a little farther with your remodel than you planned at first, items tend to get scattered into many boxes in the signpost storage box. I like to pack up items that come from particular areas or types.. IE Plants or my tailoring goods.. into their own readily identifiable containers. I love redecorating, but this putting away all the fish in bowls and taking down aquariums is getting me down.

Try stacking a couple of tables on top of each other and teleporting to the top. That should do the trick. Hehe.

Re: problems with house customizing..

basically every time i redesigne my house i get the designe i want locked in as my backup then i clear my house by placeing walls on every tile of the house so its just like a mass of wall which sends everything into the moveing crate then i comit my designe and hey presto i have a nice clean new house to decorate.

Re: problems with house customizing..

I prefer it this way. I usually know what I plan to do to the house before I start, so I go and pack up items in boxes in the rooms and near walls or stairs that I may mess with so that the items that belong in that one area will not get scattered in assorted boxes when the 'crate' gets them. The only thing that really bugs me anymore is the Aquarium issue.... I have to go take my two down soon to redo the house again, in my after Christmas do...
