Patching Problem.

Hello, I'm completely new to this game and community and just got the game yesterday. I've installed it and tried to patch but I keep getting

Cannot find 'patch.uo.com/cgi-bin/patchmsg.pl?lang=ENU'. Make sure the path or Internet Address is correct.

I've checked the patch folder and it's empty, I've cleaned my computer of all spyware/viruses. And I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and I'm still getting this error. After clicking ok another error message pops up, I don't really know what this second one means, but I've attached pictures of both errors.

Re: Patching Problem.

Hiya, welcome to the forums

Which version of UO did you install? (8th age? mondains legacy? samurai empire? etc)

Only info I could find from EA's help page was...

http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...i=&p_topview=1

One thing i've noticed which is weird, the error is from Internet Explorer
Which version of Internet explorer are ya running? and what version of Windows?

I'm not sure of the version, it's Ultima Online: Gold. Which ever version that is I guess =/

I run Internet Explorer and my OS is Windows XP.

Eh i'm not sure what to suggest.

Have you got all the latest windows updates?
Are you running anything in the background? like a firewall or internet security suite?
I'd recommend shutting those down and trying again (Temporarily)

Yea, I've shut all those things down. I'll go and see if I can update my internet explorer I guess.

Re: Patching Problem.

Make sure you've got Administrator Rights during installation. Or you can check folder/directory security settings and make sure they're read rightable.

Also look for a 'hosts' file and make sure its not blocking anything. (usually in /windows/system32/drivers/etc)

From the runtime error, you may not have XP patched up correctly, or an incorrect DLL is registered that patch needs to find. You can check the system logs and look for anything wrong there.

If you opt to uninstall again, once de-install is done, manually look for and delete the directory/folders listed above (c:/program files/EA Games/Ultima Online) and remove those "after you've used there uninstaller".

Also, there have been reported problems if you don't have XP SP2; you'll continue to have problems, so make sure XP is fully patched up.

Good Luck, and let us know.
