Re: paladin
Anatomy is good for healing with bandages and fighting witha weapon. Only way to gain anatomy is fight or heal your wounds with bandages.
Taming is hard to gain. Someone else might be able to comment on that. Its a while since I've worked taming. |

Re: paladin
If you plan to use the healing skill then anatomy is essential. To gain you should fight lower level monsters and heal yourself constantly. Maybe you could surround yourself with Lizardmen in despise for a bit.
As far as taming is concerned I don't know. I've never worked a tamer.

Re: paladin
It's completely up to you.
I'm not sure what template you envision for you character. There certainly are good characters whose only means of healing are through chivlary spells. I personally like to use bandages (healing skill and anatomy required) and use chivalry spell to supplement.

Re: paladin
Using "close wounds" will not raise anat or healing. You have to use a band aid for that.
Now for taming check out this thread . Taming is/was one of the most boring/toughest skills to gain. Good Luck ![]() Vepl |

Re: paladin
I always tried to pick tameables that were somewhere in numbers and easy to tame. At low levels polar bears on ice. If my skill was too low then i'd bump it up a little, once it raised then take off jewels and stick with polar bears until I couldn't any longer, etc.. Gamans are also great in the mid 80s for this same plan. The less time you spend searching the more time you spend taming the better.
If the perfect thing for you to tame % wise is an imp but you have such a difficult time taming them and you spend more time healing and running than taming then find something easier to find/tame by moving your skill around with jewels. |

Re: paladin
If this is your first character, or you are inexperienced at playing UO, it's best to make your Paladin a pure warrior type, not a hybrid warrior/tamer. Taming is extremely slow to raise, and the fighting skills can be best used by themselves.
A typical Paladin has: 100 weapons skill (swords, macing, fencing) 100 Chivalry 100 Healing 100 Anatomy 100 Tactics 100 Parry 100 Magic Resist Battle with Deathwatch Beetles and Dethwatch Beetle Hatchlings in the Waste of Makoto-Jima (Tokuno Islands) until you're in the upper 60's in your skills, then switch to Ettins and Earth Elementals in Despise, and finish off with Solen Infiltrators in the Wind Maze. You'll end up with a powerful warrior who can make money easily and can go nearly anywhere in game.

Re: paladin
Porbably the best tamer template is the one that I use, but it requires a lot of work to get there.
110 Taming 110 Lore 105 Vet 110 Spellweaving 100 Meditation 85 Chiv - allows you to res blues 80 Magery I use taming jewels to get mine from 85 to 107, this allows me to control my Cu Sihde properly. I then take my magery up to 100, which I find really helpfull. I love that template, probably the only template I've come up with myself that really works. If someone helps me kill the satyres I can solo a Lady Melisade with that template. I use Word of Death to give monsters the final blow, works brilliantly for me. That template requires a lot of work. But the rewards are excellent. The other taming template that works well would be: 110 Animal Taming 110 Animal Lore 105 Vetenary 110 Archery 85 Chivalry 100 Meditation 100 Tactics Again use taming jewels to bump your skill, I have some nice ones with +15 taming and hit chance increase. You've notice that all the templates don't have skill above 110, these scrolls typically fetch 1-5k, so they are easily acheivable. I actually would sugest actually making a tamer first, working your taming and other skills will help you to learn the game well. Jumping in with a warrior means that you have to fight aggressive monsters to train, but my last template allows you to train against non agressive monsters. |

Re: paladin
And my tip for taming would be, when you get to 85, get someone to take you to the savage village outside of Compassion. You'll need Savage Kin Paint, but you can train from early 80's all the way to GM on the Ridgebacks. They spawn in the south corner. Its a quiet spot, with no aggressors. There are always 2 ridgebacks there.
When you sucessfully tame one, let it be attacked by the Savages, they'll kill it. Go and tame another one. You can't gain by taming the same animal twice. You have a 100% sucess rate at taming the same animal a second time. This is why its best to either rename the animal and release it, or tell it to attack a creature that will kill it. In the savage village, the savages will automatically attack the ridgeback once its tamed. Note - do not attack the savages yourself, your Kin Paint will come off and then all the savages will attack you. |
