I wondered if you still get any bonus to the mage poison spell from having GM poisoning. Back around the time of AOS it gave you a boost in damage and a percentage chance of casting DP.

Just curious...

You have to have a combined skill total of 200 between poisoning and magery to get a chance to get a step up in the poison inflicted. ie. you can have 120 magery and 80 poisoning.

And in my experience, it seems that casting poison field on a monster does higher level poison (deadly, in the case of a 200 skill point combo) than casting single poison.

FYI The spell poison is dependent on distance to target. The closer you are to the target the higher the poison will be up to your max

No Grizz you can't. You have to use the poisoning skill on something to gain

Thank you! That was exactly what I was looking for. I had forgotten the detail about combined skill because it was my habit to just go to 100 poisoning to make my friends that poke things with sharp sticks happy too.

i think it is 2 tiles for the highest level, i could be wrong

That rings a bell. I know I used to use my necro/ nox-mage to kill dragons for the fun of it and I recall precasting poison and then running in. You have to get hit once to really make them hurt but if you hit them with strangle on your second volley they don't make it more than about 4 screens from where they started. It was amusing in a way that farming with a provoker or tamer cannot match.
