Ok, my blacksmith/mining char (with mining +5 gloves) has 99.3 mining. I'm trying to get to GM it so I can start mining gems, but it seems to be completely stuck! I have been mining for 3 hours and it hasn't risen once. Is there anything I should be doing (besides mining) that would help it rise to 100?

Oh, and I've already checked; I haven't reached my skill cap, and my mining skill IS set to rise.

If you will smelt your high end ore one at a time you can get gains that way. I believe you will have a chance to gain on anything that is gold or higher

Besides taking the higher ores to the lowest smeltable units, My best advice is to train without the mining gloves on. If you are really desperate to get gains and are willing to do a little work to do it, consider getting yourself player discorded in the twisted wield by the Satyrs to get a few gains. Draw back there is that you can only mine in the areas that the satyr is in view.

And lastly, if you are paying attention to the clock when you are mining for gains, then you might be doing something wrong Get some good music playing (like !!!!!!!!!!!!) and just keep at it.


What shard you on? I might be able to harvest some of the higher ores for you to slow smelt for gains too.

That's the best way to go, and smelting by the smallest (the little bundle of 4 specks 2 at a time for 1 ingot, not 1 huge ore for 2 ingots) unit. In my experience, it doesn't matter what kind of ore you're trying to gain on (mining or smelting).

I agree take off the gloves. Smelting tho is tricky low color (gold) ore will need more to give the same gain a higher (verite) ore will give for one so experiment. Move around too. Once you get a gain move to another server within your shard. To figgure out where the servers are download uomap and set it with the server lines showing. For starters tho Trinsic, Britian, Minoc, Umbria, ice Island and Delucia are each in a different server area. Take ore to smelt to each town and mine on ice island. Try smelting each of the different ore shapes too, double click an odd form target the common to make more of the heavy or lighter form or of the tailing. Reciently I have found that the rounded (lighter) form of valerite is more likely to give me an ingot than the large (common) shape when I am at 105 skill.

How do I get to Ice Island?

Off the north end of moonglow, by boat. There is no overland way there. However, almost any good library on your shard should have locations marked for there for taming.

And, TAKE OFF THE GLOVES. If you have a bonded fire beetle, that will really help you smelt, mine, and move faster.
