Looking for Hunting Grounds

Let me start by saying I just started playing a couple weeks ago and have not upgraded to Mondains (I played several months when the game was new). My one and only char is mostly warrior based...

anatomy 75
focus 100
healing 73
magery 88
resist 69
swords 72
tactics 70
eval int 55 (set to decay)
lumberjack 61 (set to decay)
meditation 36 (set to decay)

I'm looking for better monster challenges. I can easily kill ettins, ogres and trolls, even two at a time. But haven't had much luck against casting mobs (lichs, gargoyles, reapers, gazers) but I've increased my resist a bit since I last tried any of them.

Lately, I've been hunting just SW of Minoc but it's getting quite boring there although the gold seems decent. Where should I be headed next?

Advice would be appreciated

Re: Looking for Hunting Grounds

Well, if you are looking to fight mostly non-mage going to tram despise is always a good choice (lots of ettins, trolls, and ogres). When you get a little stronger you could take on the ogre lords or cyclopian warriors.

On a side note, you might want to choose a direction for you character before you go to much farther in gaining skill. Currently you have 10 skill listed there. The max skill points a char can have is 700 (on a new account).

If you look in the skills section of the forum there are a lot of good templates for warriors or mages, whichever direction you want to take that character.

Re: Looking for Hunting Grounds

Thank you for the reply and the advice.

Since my previous post, I've visited Despise and Destard. Despise was nice due to the number of monsters to fight and I learned how valuable blade spirit is for damage.

In Destard, I could stand toe-to-toe with the wyverns and had similar luck with drakes, although I softened them up with a blade spirit first. I didn't have the courage to try a dragon and chose not to venture farther than the first level. But I found it a better, more exciting challenge than ettins and ogres.

I didn't mention it before, but eval int, lumberjack and meditation are the skills I currently have set to leech points from.

And on one last note, I didn't mean to imply that I want to avoid magic-casting mobs altogether, just that I was having trouble staying alive when engaging them.

Any further advice is more than welcome. Thanks

Also, what shard are you playing on? Someone here may be able to take you hunting (and provide a bit of healing to boot) if you would like to try your hand on those pesky dragons and liches.

Re: Looking for Hunting Grounds

If you are planning on using your magery for direct spell damage (fireball, ebolt, flamestrike, etc.) you will need the eval int. as your level of eval determines damage. If you are going to be more of a dexxer, with secondary skill in magery for blades and ev's, it's not as important. Just a thought...........
