so i installed KR on a different computer than my regular just to see how it was since i still have refrained from giving it a try. Well i got it installed all fine and dandy but when it gets to the patching it seems to always stall at a certain patch. Then it proceeds to tell me than it has failed and that i may not have the latest client. yet i just downloaded it straight from EA. so i'm sorta confused on this subject... any thoughts?

I'm not sure if KR patches the same way that 2D does, but in 2D there is a patch folder in Program Files. Deleting any files out of that folder before starting up UO sometimes helps.

I've heard of other people having luck with an uninstall/reinstall of KR.

I've also read that if you haven't defragged your hard drive in a while, you might have luck uninstalling UO, defragging, then reinstalling it.

I don't think there's any sure-fire solution, though these ideas cover much of what I've seen in the past when this kind of problem comes up. Good luck!!

Hi Ramen,

To add to Kitiara's suggestions, if you are using Windows Vista... right click on the KR icon, and on the context menu click Run As Administrator.

Thanks for the help. yeah i am on vista but i'm gonna try to just reinstall. and then try it on administrator. thanks

when i tried to run KR on Vista i patched up, got to a certain point and it said it was done... well it said i wasnt patched up so i ran it again and it started patching again.... after the second patch it went all the way through... UO seems to run funny on my comp though... i always get the "ultima online is loading" white box thing staying up. so if i close UO and want to restart it i have to go to my task master and actually close the white box from there.... otherwise i get the "another instance of UO is running" message.

Needless to say... i dont like KR enough to mess with all that stuff, so im back to 2d and very happy with it.

I have the same problem with the little white 'UO is loading' window on Vista. It doesn't happen all the time, which is puzzling.

Also, I get massive lag every now and then when using animal form. It actually locks up the KR client and the screen goes black for about 7 seconds until my ginormous processor and hugetastitic memory can compensate. This is clearly one of the memory leaks...my system is top-of-the-line.

Silly KR - I really want to use it exclusively, but the crashes annoy me.

I don't have the SP.1 but when i try and get it from Windows updater its not there. i checked the installed ones and its not in there either so i'm not sure where i can get this downloaded.

It should be up on the "windows updater" because i got it from there as well (just 2 weeks ago).

However, SP.1 has many many changes and fixes for Vista (including perfomance upgrades, more software/hardware support) and alot more, everyone should get it, it may be well possible that after the update all your problems are fixed.

Just a FYI. Not all Vista users are seeing SP1 in their Windows Update yet. This is because they have drivers that are not SP1 compatible yet, as those drivers are updated and installed... then SP1 will become available to them.

It is on the component manufacturers to get their drivers updated and either rolled out to the clients or uploaded to the WU servers for rollout through WU.

Just a head's up.

Good to know - I was wondering how MS decided who to push it to and who not to. It got pushed to me immediately, but of course still didn't fix the video driver issue I've been having. Oh well. That's what I get for running Vista on a Mac
