They can go for upwards of 3mil but average around 2.5m. If I were you I would have gone for the blessed quiver. That 5 DCI is nice to have for any type of char.

What shard are you planning on playing?

For that gold not stacking bit, sometimes dropping the gold in a bag will stick it together (if your suffering from the no-stack bug). Or if it's in the top layer of your backpack, drop the gold on your person, not the paperdoll, the avatar you move around.

The advance char token won't sell for much, the x-fer token sells for a little more. I would sell the x-fer since your new and probly won't be moving anytime soon, and use the advance char token only if you plan on making a tamer, I don't see any other class to use it on because taming takes WAY more time to train than anything else so it would actually be worth using.

Europa shard for me 'bo' i figure ive got most chance of having people on at my playing time on there.

- Paladin would have a use for a quiver?

- Big question is how do i go about selling this transfer token? Is there an Auction House in this game or is just 'shout until i get someones attention' ?

- Also can i send items to my other characters (gold etc..) via some form of ingame mail system?

Thanks, again, for any replies.

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

You have to choose a weapon skill for your paladin, so if you choose archery then yes, a quiver would be useful A lot of people use swordsmanship on paladins though, so if you prefer that then a quiver isn't much use. It depends on whether your paladin has archery or not as to whether a quiver is useful.

For selling a transfer token there's usually another site such as tradespot you can buy and sell on, but the most popular site varies depending on shard. I don't play on europa, so I don't know what most europa players use- I'm sure someone here can tell you though.
Or you could stand at one the busier banks like luna or west britain bank and shout that you're selling it, some people do that too.

Switching items between characters can be difficult if you don't have a house, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a safe way of doing it (that I know of). Once you have the money it wouldbe a good idea to get a house, then you could leave items there to pick up with other characters when you need them.

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

Thanks for the answers Yuallica.

I guess i will need a house as the character advancement token is on this paladin and i will need it on a tamer at some point in the future.

are houses expensive?

can you put them anywhere?

not sure exactly where i am on the map. Im still in the starting town (have to follow rune symbols on the ground to an area where i kill horde minions etc)

Also is it worth me waiting to play until tomorrow (16th Feb) because then publish 39 goes live on europa and its supposedly got new stuff for new players?

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

Well, the quiver is an excellent piece for ANY player as it gives you 5 defense chance increase. That can help with any template whether you are a mage or a swordsman. It is blessed, it can hold arrows for a friend you are hunting with, and its more useful than a normal cloak. Soooo. why not wear one.. My swordsman, archer and necro/mage all wear one..

Best thing to do is grab a house placement tool from a provisioner, and go walk around until you find a plot open. I would suggest Umbra, because that seems to be one of the more open areas in the game. Remember the land has to be flat without crap in the way, and you cant be too close to roads and trees.. You just gotta play with it. If you need to, start small, just to get storage areas, then as you explore out more, you can find a bigger area, remember though, you can only place 1 house per 7 days, so if you find a plot the next day thats bigger, you have to wait.

If you can, download uo automap, from uoam.net. It is a legal program that has a better map than the ingame one provided.

If you want to sell the token, stand at either Britian bank or Luna bank depending on where the peeps hang out on your shard, and say "selling xfer token for.. whatever price.."

The changes you will see tomorrow will most likely really help you as a new player, so yah go for it.

Any other questions, feel free to ask away. I'll be sitting here bored at work ALL DAY!! hehe..

Ahh i think i understand about the quiver now. You wear it purely for its stat enhancement rather than usefulness.

I was thinking of purchasing another 8th age token or 2. I'll get that quiver and maybe a helm while im at it.

Actually i did download uoam. But its bugged for me it seems. It wont get passed the download section, even if i download the files manually it still tries to autopatch and gets stuck :/

To have an idea where Britain is in relation to me, can anyone tell me where exactly i am located in the game?
I'm at the very start where the wizard sends you killing horde minions etc.
And then how do i get to britain from where i am and can i get back again to complete my noob quests?

Thanks again.

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

Ok, you are in Haven.. You should be in a building that leads to a huge open field to the west. it is a circle, with only 1 exit. Leave the main building with the militia fighters, go east, to a bit south east. NOT what UO thinks is east, what we think as east when looking at our screen. You will see 2 lizardmen, and a couple corpsers, there will be a gate in that general area. It shouldnt be too hard to find. Now once there, go to Malas, Luna. that can be a good place to start, it is where most people hang out in the bank. That place can get you started with atleast selling the xfer token. Now to get back to the newb quest, its really not worth the time, the only thing they will give you is like an undead slayer sword, which you can find better for on vendors.. So I wouldnt worry about it really. With the cash you are about to come into by selling the tokens, you can afford better.

About the quiver, yes, it is purely for stat bonus for most people. Although, they do serve good as storage for arrows for buddies when hunting. When we go hunting in groups, they will give me 500 to carry for them.

You will find, that with your paladin, you will want to build a suit with as much hit chance (HCI) and defense chance (DCI) and damage increase (DI) as you can get, whether it be on weapons or jewelry. So every bit helps. The only thing that could even remotely be more effective to wear on your back is a veteran cloak, which you wont be able to wear for a while, so for now the quiver is your best bet, unless you want to waste 600 gold on insuring a useless cloak.... Know what I mean?

Sometimes UOAM can be a !!!!! to use, it sometimes locks my computer up, I just uninstall the entire thing, delete all the files, and start over.

One thing to remember ALWAYS INSURE YOUR STUFF.. There is nothing worse than dying somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and not being able to get back to your body in time, and losing everything... Or dying in fel, and seeing some guy loot your suit or weaps or whatever..

Anything else, feel free to ask. I'll be in the arcade.. hehe..

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

How much is the smallest type of house likely to cost me, and do they cost per day or just a one off payment for the deed?

As a young player i'll be immune to getting attacked on the way to Malas right? I think i read somewhere that creatures dont aggro towards young players.

Last thing... insurance. Where would i purchase that from, and is it necessary immediately while i still have young player status? (considering the amount of times im likely to die and wont lose anything)

Thanks for the replies.

Ps. Wheres this arcade thingy?

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

Ok. Here is the scoop on insurance, you click your character once, it will bring up a list of things, you click on "auto renew insurance" to turn it on, so that it isnt just a 1 time thing. Now you will click "toggle insurance" or whatever it is exactly, its right above where it should say now "cancel renewing insurance" it will bring up a circular cursor, then you click on the items you want to insure. I wouldnt waste it right now, as you are still young and dont have to worry bout losing your stuff, and chances are its not that great of stuff yet anyways.

There is nothing on the way to the gate that can kill you. Lizardmen are very low level creatures, so you should have no problem with them.

Once you use your advanced character token, you will no longer be a young player, so I would wait on that until your time is officially done, to get the most out of learning how to play the game..

Homes are a 1 time fee. The prices are pretty cheap, I believe like a 7x7 plot or something like that is under 30k. There are also classic non customizable houses too, that are set prices. I am not too sure, as I havent placed a house in years.. First thing you need to do is find a provisioner and buy a house placement tool, they are like 650 gold, then click on it and you can see how much prices are. there are 3 styles, classic, 2 story customizable, and 3 story customizable. Once you get a house, then you can store stuff in it. but remember to lock stuff down. You can lock stuff down by saying "i wish to secure this" then to release it you say "i wish to release this" if you dont do this, your stuff will disappear. Try to get a couple of bags or boxes so you dont have to individually lock everything down, you can just lock the bag.

The arcade is on this forum, up on the top of the screen under special features.

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

Thanks again 'bo' you're a star.

Last question today... gonna finish work soon (if you can call it work as ive been on here lots. lol)

Can i set things in my house so that any of my alts can pick them up and take them?

EG. I want to place the character advancement token in my paladins house, and then i can bring my tamer over and he can pick it up.

Re: Just purchased 8th Age, some questions...

Well here is the cool thing. Every character on that account "owns" the house, so you can access everything in it, with all 6 characters on that account.

A quick tip for your tamer. You can do 2 types of tamers, although I suggest a mage/tamer. Your token will give you taming, lore, veterinary, magery, (I cant remember exactly, so look it up first) either eval intelligence or meditation. Now heres the thing, before applying your token to your tamer, make a character with 50 in 1 of those skills, the one that isnt offered with the token. It will help later when building your skills. You know what I mean?
