Re: How much for a good set of armor and sword
I think you will find THIS LINK INTERESTING . It tells of farming swoop. As a new player you will probably end up with some very nice stuff for free. That way you can save your money until you are ready to buy the big ticket items

Re: How much for a good set of armor and sword
A LOT depends on what you consider "good". Not trying to be flip, but that's a fact. I have guildies that play with 2-3 million gold suits and decent weps, others have extremely top end, item oriented characters. The type of "good" armor is also dependant on character type. My necro mage wears an outstanding armor suit with tons of max lrc, sdi, mr, mi, lmc, etc. etc. The sleeves alone for that suit were 20+ mill, not to mention the orny, hotm, crimmy, ring, etc. etc. Well in excess of 135 mill. I have other characters that play quite well with far, far, far, less expensive armor sets. I think you'll find that pvp suits tend to run more, as they are "tailored" for the template and tend to be item dependant. I have a pvm swordsman that does very well in a standard 3 mill Darkwood suit and makes a ton of gold with a SoulSeeker. Just depends on your wants.

Re: How much for a good set of armor and sword
I made a newbie mage on Origin. I then went to the swoops and picked up some LRC leather armor (took a while but I got 100% LRC with ring and bracelet). Next, I trained up my skills to 50 in New Haven and then looked for a Troll Slaying spell book in Luna. Once I found my spell book, I went and killed Ettins in that Dungeon...don't know the name, N of Britain with the Ettins. Killed them until I got gold for the spell book and bought it. Went back to Luna and bought a horse...then back to the dungeon and ran through until I got to that safe spot near the Trolls. Tada!! With my Troll slaying spell book them Trolls die fast even if I fizzle two, three or ten times in a row. You can even get a bag of sending and stay in there killing trolls all day and send the gold to your bank box. Eventually, you move up to Ogres and Ogre Lords with an Ogre slaying spell book. That is how I did it and was able to place a Small Keep on Origin. Yes, Origin is that empty...so, you will probably get LRC faster than I did at the swoops. By the way, you can then use your warrior character after you make the fast gold with yer mage character.
Tip: Train your magic resist in New Haven to 100 by using those spell casting ghost things. You get natural resists for your mage to 40 (i think). That is the only GM skill my mage on origin had when I went troll hunting. Tip 2: Buy a full spell book first. Tip 3: Take a blank rune with you to troll spot and mark it in the safe area...so you don't have to run through Ettins every time...unless you happen to be an Ettin or like their cooking.

Re: How much for a good set of armor and sword
I farmed swoops, Ogre Lords and dragons. I also shopped for cheap ingots and then resold them for a few gold pieces profit each...doesn't seem like much, but between my beetle and I, we can carry around 20K ingots...make even 2-4 gold per, and it adds up fast. Also, as Santi mentioned, get a bag of sending and park your butt in a dungeon for a 3-4 hours...you'll make a lot more gold a lot faster doing that. My guild also does regular guild hunts...we did Daemon Temple the other night and pulled in about 350k in an hour that was divided between 7 hunters...only one death and that was the players fault. UO gold is kind of like RL, once you HAVE some money it gets progressively easier to make more....lots more.
![]() Oh, and work up a mule with mining/blacksmith/tailoring/tinkering so you can do your own repairs....you can build the character doing BOD's and make some gold in the process. After you have a competent smith/tailor/tinker, you pay no one to fix your stuff. Last edited by jfk; 30th August 2007 at 07:24 AM. |
