Hit Lower Defense

The 30 HLD on the Mace and Shield glasses, do they stack with the HLD on your weapons? Or no?

Some people we asked said yes, some people said no. So I just want to see if anyone can confirm it.

HLD = Hit Lower Defense, so when it is in effect. Makes it easier for you to hit your target.

Here's a question on HLD, does it affect everyones ability to hit the monster, or just the person with HLD on their weapon???

I believe it lowers a targets defense to everyone, until it wears off.

Yup, lowers it for everyone. If you notice when you get attacked by someone who has HLD, it says on the bottom left "Your defense has been lowered!!" Then when the attack is over it'll say "Your defense returns to normal"

And yes, mace and shield does stack, however there might be a cap on HLD. Not sure, but I think there is one.. but either way, mace and shield glasses ROCK! If you have max hci and 120 weapon skill with them as well, you'll hit everything.

Yea, that would be my assumption as well. That is why I don't wear the mace and shield glasses anymore cause one of my weapons has 50 HLD already

If it didn't I'd be wearing the glasses! Best library item in the game, imo

So, wait. Do HLD and HCI essentially do the same thing? If so, which one is more important for a melee PvM character?

Thx for the explanations... and - same question as Jakar: do HLD and HCI have essentially the same effect? Also, does archery count as "hitting" with a weapon? (ie. would HLD apply even though archery isn't melee?)
