Where can I find some reliable information on starting the chain? There is a ton of basic information, but I seem to be missing how to START the darned thing.

I have been looking for some time (good thing Uncle Sam is footing the bill).

Think the quest actually starts in the Brit Library. Dont know the actually quest givers name but just try each NPC.

Check out uostuff.com it has the quest mapped out pretty darn nicely.

I have looked at it, but for some reason I cannot seem to find out how to start the library quest. I am probably still asleep, usually don't have this hard a time figuring things out.

i cannot even find anyhwere where it talks about freinds of the library quest. Searched for it, and it mentions that you need the talisman on uostuff, but not HOW to get it.

yup. I was lokoing for something next to the name in uostuff.com like "start library quest" or something.

I believe you talk to Verity the Librarian in the Brit Library to start the quest...after that, I think you go to Sarekki the Notary, then to Petrus the Beekeeper, then you have to kill the special scorpions for the poison sacs, then back to Petrus, then back to either Sarekki or Verity, I can't remember which...anyway, its not too hard! And if you're doing the quest on a mule character who can't kill the scorps, you can always use a warrior character to collect the sacs, then transfer them onto your mule to turn in.

Thanks Kylana! Should be starting the quest tonight. The guys (animal mostly) helped me get my first pets!!!!! I now have a rune beetle and a mare. Hopefully they will be ok getting sacs, sicne they are not bonded yet.

They should be ok, but be really careful about the other spawn in the desert area. Wyverns, imps, stone harpies, and lots of other nasties also spawn there, so just make sure you keep on top of healing. The scorps that have the sacs are going to be called "speckled scorpions" or something like that...not just regular scorpions, so don't worry about looting the normal ones, unless you really want the gold. And the poison sacs DO have a timer on them, but don't worry too much, as it should be enough time for you to collect enough to finish the quest. Also, when you've collected them, click once on yourself (like you do when you're insuring something) to bring up a context menu. There's now an option to "Toggle Quest Item", which you will need to do to mark the sacs for turning in. It will bring up a targeting cursor, and you will be able to highlight all the sacs.

Those sacs have timers on them too, so make sure you still have 5 (?) when you go back Petrus.

Is the quest timed also to get the 5 sacs?

Yes, the uostuff site said 360 seconds, or something liket that. I will be able to flesh it out more once I get to it.
Gonna leave work early today to play UO. Is that sad or what? Or do I finally have my priorities in the right order?
