The easiest way to make money is Destard Dragons.
They are easy to kill and the loot consists of about 1600 gold, gems, leather armor you can enhance, hides and scales. If you consider the sale of the gems and armor to NPC's and the sale of bulk leather to other players its about 2800 gold per dragon.
Also White Wyrms give similar loot and you will be a Lord/Lady in no time.

i'm well off myself - but i'm a miser when it comes to spending as well. i'll usually shop around until i find a price i like if i get the item myself...

This won't make you rich or anything, but if you start a new char on a shard you don't have anything on...you can kill hinds, great harts and goats for their hides. You can then sell them for about 18-19 gp each. A great heart is worth about 612-646gp. That is pretty good and pretty low risk. I only mention it because I used to think killing skittering hoppers was good money...the time I wasted.
