This maybe a dam fool question, but does owning a boat have any bearing on your house?

I'm asking because my fisherman needs to get out to sea, but I have seen people living on boats and wondered if owning a boat help to collapse your house.

No bearing what so ever. Just consider it a seafaring horse.

But be sure to refresh it every few days if you leave it out there. I have lost dozens of boats due to forgetting about them being out there. They get pricey after a while....

All my Fisherman carry there boat with them all the time (they are very strong). Just please don't leave your boat out there cluttering up my ocean. (I dry-dock it every time I use it)

Hello Jomo. Don't forget, as was said above.. Refresh regularly! Boats definitely decay if you leave them 'idle' too long.

I'd be more worried for the Empress of Ireland... that sunk WAY faster than the Titanic least with Titanic you got 2 hours to try to get to safety. =P Oh yeah Install lifeboats ^_^

Yeah - the "IS THAT MY BOAT" problem is pretty awful, easy to lose track of them too.. No real customization - I'm sorry to say they made it that way... Maybe some day i'll get the go to work on the boats some. The way the art works with the current engine it makes it hard to do anything really cool with the darn boats from a Dev perspective.

At the very least i think some partial Hueing of the sails and or trim on the boat with colors that have been "OK'd" (in other words no neon terror) should be worked in on them.

Of course i'd really like to handle the boats like customized housing and let folks really design them - but that would be a whole huge elaborate system to make. Better to fix other major things with UO first, naturally.

Still.. Having designed and built quite a few Pirate ships in my carrer - I always look at our UO boats with longing and want to make them better.

I think that would be a great Idea. I wish I could remember to label my keys too. I end up with a box full of em and dont remember which one was active, so I try to recall off of all of them, and usually find out. oops, they all decayed.. I think I have lost atleast 20 boats just out of forgetfulness. I think if people were able to customize them, they would remember them a little better, and not forget them and lose em to decay...

That would be so neat! There is alot you could do with the boats but not sure how fancy you can get with them before it starts lagging.

Yes! Colored Sails... colors that would be possible, of course... not plaid or iceworm blue. Black sails, great idea! Totally sinister and cool! Red Sails! (my personal favorite) Soft blue, Sand colored.... nice ones, no Neon please.

Just got back from working in South Wales for a week...and no Snowy your not having a senior moment I've noticed a few changes here as well plus a pet I think must have died....(note to self , get vet to rez pet).

Thanks guys and gals been dry docking each time I have used it........think I might try the sails thing though.
