Blighted Grove Quest problem

I've tried twice to do the quest that ultimately gets you the bone machete recipe so you can enter the grove.

When I talk to Jamal, he asks me to deliver some bark to a trader in Jhelom. The bark just shows up in my pack. Anyway, I go to Iosep(sp?) in Jhelom, and I am told to return for my reward. I go to Jamal, with an empty pack... and he restarts the quest.

What am I doing wrong? HALP! ;)

Chop on the nearest tree with your axe and a very small stack of green kindling will be in your backpack. It is hard to see so look for it. I do not recall any message saying I received it in my backpack. Iosep is in Jhelom a little East of the bank in the Deadly Intentions weapons shop. (172.43'N 1.45'E) He is in the back room area. He will first ask you for 4 rock and 2 blue diamond. Those are mining items. The rock is four pieces of granite and the blue diamonds are mined ones. (You can buy these from a vendor if you wish it does not matter) He will then ask you for 10 dead things. What he wants is 10 bones. You get those from shadow wisps (Spirituality Ish a little east) or giant serpents (Magincia moon gate) you have to cut them up with sissors once you get them. Once you have done that he will give you a sealed letter to return to Jamal. When you will return to Jamal by Blighted Grove. He will ask you for 3 bottles of corrupted water. That is found inside of Blighted Grove. I suggest you use a stealther. You will need to buy a bone machete from a vendor. Return them to Jamal and you will then know how to make the machete. I do believe you have to be a GM Blacksmith.

Looks like something is going wrong when you talk to Iosep, do you have the taint sample and is it marked as a quest item?

WHen I did it the sample automagically appeared in my bag. I will try 'axing' one this time.

Maybe you don't have to axe it, are you marking it before talking to Iosep?

It won't mark as a quest item.

I tried blading a tree for kindling, and for some reason it accepted the tainted sample this time. Continuing on quest. Thanks!

OK, now I gots a new problem. I learned me the recipe, made up a bone machete for my fighter. So far so good. I can cross the log and get into the 'dungeon', but these insane 'insane dryads' keep kicking mah butt, not respectin' mah authoritah. Is there a way to make this game easier so I can get all the good stuff I want and never die?

*sigh*

Insane dryads only spawn in specific locations and only if you run near them.

Use a mage and EV the heck out of them. Hiding/Invis is your friend. Presumably, Honor would help you survive those first critical moments at entry. Just wait until the hydra-on-crack is lured to the entrance by a panicked runner.

And if you are having trouble with the dryads, you're going to *love* Saliva's cave...
