![]() ![]() | Re: Arctic Ogre Lords? Cannot stable. Cannot bond. Disappears if you "release" Disappears if you die (major bummer) Cannot recall with you, must gate. Kicks butt against Dreadhorn. Two of these and a Super Dragon make short work of him. Of course, a superdragon alone will kill him, with sufficient Clerics casting from the wings. ~M |

![]() ![]() | Re: Arctic Ogre Lords? Interesting question. to be honest, I don't know the answer. As far as i know, the Dryad allure is permanent (unless you do one of the things I mentioned above) - which means that arcane focus would have no real impact on the charming. Anyone else know something different? ~M |

![]() ![]() | Re: Arctic Ogre Lords? Darnit, Warsong...how am I going to stay ahead of you on postcount if you keep answering all my posts! =D After a little research, I've determined that Arcane Focus does not impact Dryad Allure. ~M |

![]() | Re: Arctic Ogre Lords? Well this may just make me start a spellweaver oriented character. I had never done so because I don't know anyone else playing with spellweaving and thought it was pretty much worthless to use this skill alone. But there seems to be interesting spells that you can handle by yourself! PS: sorry for completely hijacking this thread! |

![]() | Re: Arctic Ogre Lords? I love spellweaving and use it to make my druid characters. Incidentally, your charmed creatures do not disappear if you die. They disappear if you stray too far from them which sometimes occurs when you are off looking for a healer. Some of the creatures you can charm, like savages and troglodytes, will even heal you with their bandages. I'm not certain if they have the skill necessary to ressurect you, however. Arcane Focuses improve your chances of success on charming a creature. If you don't have the focus, it just requires patience to keep casting until you do succeed. Allured creatures can be healed with magic or by bandages. For those skilled in healing, the speed is similar to cross healing another player, so skilled healers can keep their allures up and fighting. Arctic Ogre Lords seem to be the most powerful of the creatures one can allure. They cannot compete with some of the creatures tamers can utilize, but spellweaving is much easier to train than taming is. It is also handy to be able to gate them around, as they cannot recall with you. A few of the creatures you tame could prove dangerous to yourself. Meer Captains will sometimes cast holy light which damages all in their vicinity. This will cause them to target you if you are caught in the spell range. Meer Eternals have that absorption power which does really strange things. They seemingly explode when trying to use it and it will cost you karma as if you had killed them. Nature's fury is also a valuable spell. You can cast it effectively with only 20 spellweaving. ML Humans who complete the spellweaving spell can utilize this spell as well as the gift of renewal without spending any skill points in the skill as they get the master of all skills bonus. It's very handy for if you die and are trying to recover your body. All it takes is mana to heal yourself and throw down swarming clouds of insect that will distract and possibly kill any spawn between you and your body. |
