Ultima Online General Discussion Thread, Is it absolutely necessary to GM or get 110/115/120 of choice skils? in Ultima Online

Is it absolutely necessary to GM or get 110/115/120 of choice skils?

I guess I get lazy. But I've noticed as I built my chars, I'd lock skills at certain points. 30 or 40 magery in the old days handled my recalls, poison cures, healing for a dexer.

I'm not selling the acccount I built from the ground up, but I keep looking for "better" when I look to buy an account.

I also relied on unorthodox templates for some chars. Why can't you be in Shame for several hours, picking up the ore left in the corpses in earth and dull copper elementals, take it to a house nearby and smelt it using GM mining on your warrior? Or a miner/lumberjack swords fighter who'd have chivalry? C'mon, having those blue beetles makes this template such a good idea to me for some reason. He'd be your resource gatherer and some other char could be your "mule."

So am I wrong in not wanting "normal" templates?

your not wrong at all i remember when i first started i was intimated by hof fast and strong people were andi played all the time to be like themthen after a while i was loosing excitement and deceided to make my charactes how i want so i can enjoy game play and low and behold i now have fun and thoses big boys who did all the killing i am right upthere with them if not further up the ladder , so bottom line is just have fun wherether you a crafter or fighter or redmage whatever makes you turn on uo everyday is the real winner
