Red face Needing Input on Template

Ok.. maybe this might go under skills, but I know you guys know more than I do on making new chars so I am seeing if I post it here what kind of feedback I will get.

I will have my 6th character slot available, and want to make something new. I normally make crafter types and wanted something that could do these new dungeons instead. I have an archer, but have never gone with a close range combatant before.

A friend of mine told me to try a mage/macer/pally which could work in theory but I wouldnt know how to place the str/int/dex at all.

I have access on soulstone to approx 87 magery and 86 hiding. It had also been suggested to me to do a ninja/macer/mage since I could use the magery and hiding I have the stones, yet once again how to place the str/dex/int. This will be strictly pvm and an elf character at that. What do you guys think, suggest, recommend, etc???

Thanks in advance....

Re: Needing Input on Template

I'm not a big fan of 3 major skill templates.. it spreads you too thin as you don't have enough points to compliment any of them with the secondary skills. Eg. You can doe a ninja/macer/mage.. but for ninja most of the specials are useless without stealth/hiding or tracking for DS.. for macer, you're going to want tactics for damage increase.. for Mage you'll want Eval and Meditation. For a good PvM character I'd reccomend sticking to basic templates. A hybrid is good such as the Pally/Necro..

Up to you.. I have just found it really hard to get the most out of the major skills if you can't increase their potention potency with the complimentary skills.

Re: Needing Input on Template

I spoke with another friend of mine today who suggested this:

doing a ninja/mage mage/eval/med/ninja/hiding/stealth and using staff of the magi for my weapon as it uses magery instead of a combat skill. Adding in either tactics or anatomy to boost weapon damage?? and I would not need to get my med all the way up, so maybe a slight hybrid of the anat/tactics ?? I really like the hiding/stealth concept but I dont want to just play a pure ninja for these dungeons..

Good idea.. pure ninjas are basically just fodder in some of the high stress dungeons.. I can tell you that first hand. Ninjas are built for quick and sneaky one or two shot kills and carry very little in ways of defense. You're friend is on the right track.

OK then.. so I know what skills to use.. what would I set my STR/INT/DEX at??

I am thinking at least 90 STR / 80 DEX / 55 INT ??

Re: Needing Input on Template

The nice thing about attributes is that they are so easy to adjust if you don't like what you have. I guess it depends on how heavily you'll be depending on the Ninja special moves. Several of them, in most Ninja's opinion, require WAY too much mana.. so a good sized mana pool is definate. 55 should be more than enough. On the other hand if you plan on casting lots of 5+ level mage spells, then 55 ain't going to cut it either. Now either of my points are mute if you're able to get your hands on a real kick ass MR suit.

I'm a bad one to ask however at this point.. I'm a dexxer junkie... I jack my dex up to 125 and deck it out further with jewels. The other two attributes I play around until I find a happy medium between good damage and a satisfactory mana pool. On my ninja I currently have 85/120/40.

Well.. will have to see what I can come up with. A friend of mine is out looking for a +15 or +20 stat scroll for me, so I can boost myself better. I am just looking forward to actually being able to venture into these new dungeons for a change and NOT fear dying right away! LOL
