Dumb Noob Questions: Take Pity On Me

Well I have a GM Smith/Tinker/Miner (for the umpteenth time, actually). There are some new things to me. Some new, but never "happened". By that, I mean power scrolls. Of any kind, actually.

Hm...

1) Er, has anyone ever managed to earn a powerscroll for smithing, or did you just break down and buy one? I'm not even sure what BOD(s) you'd have to get for even a 5.0 scroll. I've never seen one of any type up close. Only in my dreams.
2) If you get a 5.0 scroll and use it, are you forever stuck with 105, or can you upgrade to 120 later if you ever manage to get one? What's said on UO's official site isn't exactly clear on powerscrolls, except for stats. Not that I ever expect to get anything other than dull copper runic hammers and that powder stuff. That's the best I've done so far.
3) Actually a guide on BODs would help.. is there one? I notice a lot of smiths just drop BODs on the ground and walk off. I take that to mean that a lot of BODs just aren't worth the effort? How do you know which one? That's why a list would be nice...
4) Recipies... what the... recipies? And these weird gems I keep getting? I've been saving the gems, and also something called a "small piece of blackrock". No idea what that is, but I guess the gems are for tinkering and smithing. But where do you get these recipies anyway? Quests? Random treasure? Monsters? Bods?
5) My last question is, I know you can get 120 in Tailoring and Smithing... but what about bowcraft/fletching and carpentry? Or any other crafting skill for that matter?

That's all I can think of... my mind is fried... fried, I say!

Re: Dumb Noob Questions: Take Pity On Me

I will take a shot at it:

1) Yes 105, 110, 115, 120 Blacksmithing scrolls can be earned by turning in the proper bod. But if you have the gold, you might want to buy one. a 120 should not be more than 200k, though this price does vary from shard to shard.

2) No you are not stuck forever, if you use a 105, whenever you use a higher one you can raise your skill to that new level. The only thing you can not do is use four level 105 to equal a 120. It does not stack like that.

3) I use this program: Nystul's Notebook yes its not be updated in years, but it is still 100% accurate. And it works for both blacksmithing and tailoring small and large bods.

4) Recipies you get from doing quests in the elf city of heartwood. Enterance to heartwood is located in the center of yew, it looks kind of like a moongate. You have to have upgraded your account to mondain's legacy to access the city of heartwood. weird gems are for crafting items from the recipies that you can get in heartwood. Blackrock is not used in crafting, it was being used in the current event.

5) only blacksmithing and tailoring can go to 120. No other crafting skills got higher than grandmaster (100).

Try this link.. An excellent reference on which BODs to keep and which BODs to drop on the ground.

Dont' drop them on the ground! At the least, put them on a book for 200gp for me (or someone like me) to buy!

Well, dropping on the ground (usually in Luna BS shop) means giving it away for free, as most of the time someone (like you ) picks it up before it disappears.

I finally broke down and decided to add them one at a time as well, the question I have is now "how do you add the Large Bulk Order Deeds" for example if I have a 4 part deed that has skullcap, doublet, shoes, and kilt after I set the amount, quality, and type it only allows me to choose one of the 4 items i need to make,,,can anyone that uses this program inform me as to how they add Large BODS into it?

Re: Dumb Noob Questions: Take Pity On Me

sellect large in the drop down box in the upper right , then in the bottom drop down , go all the way down to the bottom of the list , you will see some with "set" at the end of it , like "platemail set " would be a large plate mail bod , now the one you are asking about is a bit harder to figure out , there are some that are wizard set , town crier set , ect its one of those , best thing is to select the one that sounds right , then add it and go to the main screen and find it and make sure its the right one , if not , remove and set as another . i think that would be the piratre set maybe , .....not sure , but thats how i do it .
