Taking babies into see Melissa...

I have several accounts right now. As such, I have 10 young characters made and 12 not young. I want to rotate them into visit Melissa. I know youngs can get in the room unharmed. And I figure I can run the 12 others in there as well.

Questions:

1) Will explosion pots be enough to do damage to get a ticket?

2) Many of them have 50 Magery. Could I get 20+ Magery gems and a 100 LRC suit to have them cast BS on her?

Anything else you can think of to help? I am going to start bringing the youngs in today.

P.S. Two of them are named Chuck dePot and Ivana Tosspots.

No offense, but I hope they institute some measure to prevent "young" characters from receiving the rewards. Using "young" characters is nothing but an exploit, in my opinion.

I like the names, though... heh

Re: Taking babies into see Melissa...

I see your point and I would be glad to make the concession that we are not immune. I totally agree, that is rediculous.

That being said, I have only been back in game for a little over a week. 100,000 points per piece doesn't come easy. 600,000 for a set of armor that will last me for the forseeable future is steep for me, but fair.

Nonetheless, I still plan to take them in and use them for points. If they declare it an exploit, I would gladly stop.

1) Yes
2) Yes

Here's another trick I plan to try: Run two accounts at the same time (I love KR) and party your chars together. Both characters should get loot rights even if only one is tossing pots.

Melissa will target "young" players if they damage her. This is not an exploit, this is the way the game mechanics were intended.

Wow, now we openly talk about manipulating game mechanics for personal gain (exploits).

Amazing!

(not just you Magister, but seems to be a trend I see more and more with this event, sad to say)

Re: Taking babies into see Melissa...

Adding on to what DiP said, and a personal rant of mine over the last few days, but if you're taking new or "young" characters in there, DON'T be "that guy" please. By that I mean don't stand around with your thumb up your hind end doing nothing but getting in the way, or dictating to people what to do, when you are NOT helping at all. Sorry, but 20 explode pots ain't doing squat to help kill Melissa, it's only getting you looting rights. Meanwhile, vet chars are doing the real work, taking the real risk, and clearing Melissa and the spawn.

If you create a character just to go there, at least stone some skills onto them so they are useful....a little magery and eval is fine, so they can throw fireballs, heal others/pets, and generally be useful. It may cost you a few charges of a soul frag, or preferably use full stones if you have them, but you're going to get a 25k ticket, some peerless ingredients, perhaps some even better loot, and it will make your fellow UO players happier.

You say "tomatoes", I say "exploit". Won't argue it, it's just the way I see it. Thus the "in my opinion" at the end of my post.

Re: Taking babies into see Melissa...

If I remember right from the last time I had a [young] character - which was a heck of a long time ago - if you entered a dungeon, you got a warning. It would say something along the lines that if you entered a dungeon, your young status no longer kept you safe and you would be attacked. Has this changed overall, or just for Ilsh dungeons?

As for the other, I have seen lots of people take pets down to the little side room and let the balron and imps target the pets. Then they can be free to fight Melissa. Personally, I like having the bally in there. It makes it more of a challenge when Melissa shows, and gives me something to do until she does.
