  | Looking for a laptop So I decided to ask here what folks are seeing out there. I've always had Dell's with no problem, but thought I'd explore what's current. I gave my 2 year old Inspirion to my daughter for school, etc. and I'll be in the market in about a month. What would interest me: 17" screen HD compatible BluRay combo no integrated video, I'd want dedicated I'll go Vista, but it would be the Ultimate version So any thoughts out there? | Re: Looking for a laptop Those are two decent laptops. I believe the HP is the better deal though, more bang for the buck. Here are some notebooks at Newegg. Acer & Gateway are the same company now. Lenovo makes the ThinkPads now. Sony and Toshiba are nice, but too pricey. Just some ideas. |

| Re: Looking for a laptop haha snuggs. I just ordered that same one from Dell. I opted for the 4g of ram though, and the 1900x1200 resolution monitor, and the smaller hard drive, but its 7200rpm.. I ordered it through the military program though, and it started at 500, and I completely beefed up every single possible option, and the most I could get it to was $1500. They shipped it free overseas too.. I havent been able to do much with it yet, as I have no internet connection to hook it up to at the moment, so no games are installed or anything. My gf bought me some bluetooth gaming headphones, so when I game on it, the only wire I'll have to deal with is the power wire. I leave here in 11 days though, and will be a gamin fool on that sucka! I highly recommend Dell laptops, I have had 3 now over the last 5 years, and will go back for another when this one's past its prime..  |

| Re: Looking for a laptop Aye Bo, all past 4 laptops were Dells. Will probably get the one I configured. Just wanted to see what folks see out there. Nok, That HP on elooks real sweet. I just have an HP phobia from dealing with some of thier early machines a number of years ago. The Inspirion is a nice setup, the one I gave my daughter was the 9300 version from 2 years ago. Here's my setup for the one I'm ordering. Quote:
