Treasure Hunting

Treasure hunting has not been improved since they introduced Ilshenar paragons although every other aspect of the game has been. The result is treasure hunting no longer yields items that are worthy of note. They need to do the following to improve treasure hunting:

1) Either remove the useless Ilshenar Minor Artifacts or establish a turn in system for them. Out of all of the Ilshenar Minor Artifacts, around five have any real value (Canelabra of Souls, Dread Pirates Hat, Shield of Invulnerability, Violet's Courage, and Heart of Lion).

2) Update chests to remove scrolls and necromancy scrolls in favor of adding in spellweaving scrolls.

3) Update chests to add in special materials (mining, fishing, and ljacking materials as well as a lesser chance at ML materials).

4) Update chests to add in ML minor artifacts as a random chance with the other minor artifacts.

5) Update chests to refocus the loot to a system that gives better loot with a level 6 chest than with any other chest (currently you can get about the same loot from a level 1 as you can a level 6t you just have to weed through more junk in a 6).

6) Update chests so that they account for the luck of the person digging the map and updates the loot accordingly.

Re: Treasure Hunting

Now this I can agree with! However back to your original argument vet players will easily be able to get these new items while new players cannot, is this fair?

On one hand I like that idea. On the other hand, I don't really like the concept of making treasure hunters work even harder for what little reward they currently get. After the uproar over destroying the rune libraries for resource gathering, I don't really want to see the uproar that would happen from destroying rune libraries for treasure maps.

On the other hand, what about making a map that differs based on where you dig it? You would chose what area to dig it in and depending on if that area was in Trammel, Malas, Tokuno, or Ilshenar it would influence the mobs you had to kill and the rewards you got from the chest.

I don't see the relevance? How are veteran players more easily able to obtain these newer items? I just made a new treasure hunter in less than a week. If you are trying to say that veteran players have a bonus because they have worked hard to make their characters where as newer players have it harder to make characters then that boat sailed long ago. It is much easier to make a new character then it was when veterans made characters already.

Re: Treasure Hunting

I meant, add to the current dig spots, so people can actually explore other parts.

Different spawn for different areas is a good idea also.

Re: Treasure Hunting

Treasure hunting is VERY long overdue for an update.... I've said that for years... would like to see treasure sites in Tokuno.... Malas and Illshnar.... as well as adding in the ML arties....

Re: Treasure Hunting

After the person who was solely responsible for the treasure map system was not invited to the redwood shores move from Texas, the system has been stagnant ever since. It is desperately in need of some new life and your suggestions are excellent. Now for fishing up sos...

Re: Treasure Hunting

I agree that the loot from treasure hunting needs improvement and I like the idea of including ML arties and bringing back a turn in system for them... make us feel like we're getting real treasure from these chests. And I wholeheartedly wish that luck would be taken into account for these as well.

Re: Treasure Hunting

For any rewards of value to be placed in treasure chests, the system of where and how they are found needs to be re-vamped. If not the market will be flooded with those items in a moonglow minute.

Everyone has a set of treasure location rune books and all of the map locations are documented on numerous websites. There are public rune libraries with all of these locations as well. This removes the novelty of the whole idea of going on a treasure hunt.

When a map is generated it should be as close to random as possible and include all facets. I also think it would be cool if there were no distinction between facets written on the map. The only caveat to that might be felucca/trammel

You should have to use some in-game skill to find the treasure rather than an external website or external tool. I know some will argue they do it the old fashioned way. EVERYONE should do it the old fashioned way, there should be no alternative.
