Not trying to rain on anyone's parade.
I personally would love to live back in the days pre UO:R
I just know that
1. They don't have the code to go back to that time
2. If they did it would be full of bugs that have been fixed in the last 8 years
3. To make everyone happy (loaded statement) they would have to redevelop the game
4. This would mean that they would have to stop progress on new content, and allocate all their time to reverting the game to a prior period of time with select enhancements. To compensate for all of this work, they would need to generate more sales - and thus advertise: "Hey everyone, we've rolled back all of the new stuff we made in the last 8 years... COME ON BACK!" Doesn't seem like a very good advertising message
Again, pre UO:R was awesome. I just happen to work for a software company, so I feel the pain of the development's time and efforts - and having to make tough decisions on where to allocate limited resources.
UO doesn't have 10 million subscribers like some other games do. We have what we have, and those devs need to spend time on what is best for their path. I just can't see how a legacy shard could generate enough money for them that it should and ever would take top priority.
