I think in the end most people would rather have a hybrid shard, but that could get pretty hairy trying to include parts of different eras and making them balance out.

In a nutshell, I think the main things people want are:
1) No Tram/Fel
2) No AOS era stats
3) No Insurance/Blessings

That's a huge generalization obviously, but I think as long as they released a shard that met those criteria, it would qualify as "Classic" and would pull a lot of people back into the game.
