Re: Time to come home?....

Hello Heim.Welcome to UOForums.

I began playing UO during Pub 16 so arrived as you left basically.

To try answer some of your questions I thought I would use some pics as well as just words,as I have recently stopped playing my first MMO and now play another new game.

An in game event [ commonly known as a 'lag fest' ]

Quote:
Is it really filled with stupidly bright coloured items and themed items that just 'dont fit'.

The introduction of the elf race, which brought the 'fluorescent look' to a character and the introduction of .... bright colours

Whats the community like now?
I imagine you would of experienced the 'masses' at banks such as Brit and Luna.Well no such worries now. These are my last 2 visits to those 2 banks.

What does the new graphic engine feel like to play with?
What it feels like to play with I am not the best person to ask,as sadly I am one of those folk it never quite worked for.The person to tell you about that is kitiara who plays it successfully and absolutely loves it,as do many others.

If you ask me what the new graphics are like, well they are awesome but again sadly, badly bugged, although it has improved greatly from its early beta days.

You will find many many threads/posts/questions and answers here re KR and its best left to others to describe it to you.

Also here you will find some of the currently active guilds/communities on Europa.

Do trammel and fel still have the same rules? Is there anyone still playing in fel? Are there any active PvP guilds? Is there any PvP at all anymore? Do PKs still roam the dungeons?
Yes Fel and Tram still have the same rules.
Yes PK's still roam the dungeons.
I was never one for Pvp in Fel really, although I did take part in PvP events in Trammel.

Being a hardcore Roleplayer,my visits to Fel were usually based around Nealoth and the library and Tavern, which are now sadly all but gone.

However PvP is still going strong but has its own problems and you can read/discuss and ask folk here who I am sure will be only to happy to update you on its current state.

I basically can't find another game or server that offered me everything UO had back then. The customising of your characters, player homes, the freedom to do what you please, non-consentual PvP, guild PvP, the community. Everything about the game was 'just right'.

UO is all that you say in this respect and I doubt any other game will ever capture that feeling you describe, certainly not for me.

I hope my reply doesnt give the wrong impression as to my view of UO. I was totally immersed in the game and it has been really hard for me to let it go after almost 7 years .

It isnt the even game itself,as I love 2d and would happily play it still even without the new client.

What ruined it for me ?

The vast exodus of roleplayers, who needed their PvP fix and found it better elsewhere, thus depleting their RP contribution.

EA's current attitude to the game.

The way EA celebrated UO's 10th Anniversary, which was short of nothing but disrespect for both the veteran game and veteran player base, that has supported it over its time.

The collapse and dissapearance of such communities as Spectral Court, the almost non existence now of the Knight Templars [ my first guild] and the shock of such guilds as The Dark Cloaks and Army of Kaldor, disbanding and leaving.

All of these things contributed to my leaving UO.

Am I bitter ?

No just BITTERLY dissappointed how UO is treated by EA.

You can find all the latest UO News and Developers posts here

I hope you find what you are looking for on your return.
I hope you can run and enjoy the new client.and wish you happy times ahead
