So I broke down and went to Covetous to train LP past 95. My character is way into the negative Karma so I cannot do the Satyr thing. I was surprised how easy it is to stealth safely in a dungeon so I am pretty happy that I can do this pretty well without getting murdered.

So my questions are these:
How best to train this to GM?
Should I go in and get my skill up only 0.1 per day using the GGS thing?
Is there any point in staying and picking locks PAST the 0.1 gain per day? Would that even work?
Is/are there better dungeon(s) for this activity?

Pick level 3/4 chests. I believe you can find chest lvl information and location on stratics. Im in the same boat, no ML so no satyr trick so I just have runes marked where the chests usually spawns and recall in from time to time. Its pretty slow and getting boring...I've only gained .8 for the last 4 days doing this for about 1-2 hours a day.

Well, if you plan to continue playing UO for the next 60 days, I'd recommend getting your 0.1 GGS each 24 hour period and then logging on to a different character. That's what I did, back before satyrs existed.

Bring back alacrity scrolls! Put them in Trammel Champ spawns!

If there are factions,you can do the Faction Trick:
1.Enter a faction
2.Suicide / Xplo Pots,Casting Harmful spells on your head,falling from houses,If You have pet 'All Kill' On you, etc. /
3.For 20 minutes your skills are lowered by 33%
4.Enjoy!

You can gain skills much faster with that trick /Poisoning,Blacksmithy / If you wanna use less ingots for crafting,etc./

I'm sure you can gain on any paragon chest, just lock a few down at your house, make a macro to pick each one, carry a lot of picks, and get a good movie or two to watch.

I think I did that with about 10 Miasma chests, a few Demon Paragon chests, and some lower level ones (like Ettins, Trolls, etc.).

I tried that and a few hours and hundreds of picks later... nothing. :[

nope paragon chests are considered lvl6 I believe so you must be gm to do them

To unlock them, but I could have sworn you could gain on them by trying after 95.

Maybe that was before, don't know if they made any changes.

For using paragon chest ... make sure its not a paragon chest that requires 100 picking and one that is just above your level.

You will get 0 gains on chests that require 100 picking (like the miasma chests). Use Stratics for the particulars on the chests.

I used a combination of a bunch of Cyclops/etc paragon chests, dugeon crawls (don't focus on one dungeon ... crawl ALL of the dungeons rapidly in succession with runebooks), and finally the trusty GGS.

I seem to remember that you can't recall to the insides of dungeons, or is that just to lower levels?

Ive trained my lockpicking for 0-80 on he same dark wisp paragon chest and it is still gaining fine. from the saftey of my home.

And do the chests relock themselves on some kind of timer? Or new locked chests spawned in the place?
