Morning, everyone.

While wandering around Nujelm on Origin this morning, I came across something I'd never seen before. It was a guard whose name was gray, and when I hit Ctrl-Shift, his name tag was red.

I've always been told that means someone's flagged as a criminal. Is that so? If it is, how could a guard be flagged as a criminal?

It was an unusual sight, seeing a gray name on an NPC in a sea of blue and yellow ones.

you didnt get guard whacked did you? thats the only time ive seen it... or if you steal from them... even after youve been resurected they still show up as grey.... at least thats how it used to be.... havent tried that since the npcs went yellow(i miss farming black sandals from the npc mages)

now that i think about it, if they were on the other side of a server line, sometimes that shows up as grey too....

No, I didn't get guard whacked, but the guard was in the house with the fruit basket that's supposedly stealable.

Maybe somebody tried stealing it and got whacked just before I got there. I did notice a lute someone had dropped on the ground nearby.

i think the guard would only show grey to you if YOU stole from them or if YOU got guard whacked.... only other thing i can think of is the server line thing.... sounds odd

I may very well be the server line thing - I have blue priests of mondain and grey creatures that are supposed to be blue all the time when I'm hunting along the server line south-east of despise...

Was he in the Jail/Court of Justice Building? If so he is a left-over from an earlier stage of the ongoing event (thought he was grey not red tho)

He was inside the house near the entrance to the crystal caves you need to purchase a ticket to get into.

I went back later with a different character, and the guard appeared as gray to that character, too.
