Deleted a couple of replies in this thread, and will do so in the other thread where insults/rudeness has been thrown around.

Anymore rudeness/insults will result in marks on said accounts.

I am sad to see Europa RP has suffered from devision and declining numbers, I wish you all well in trying to rekindle the love for it.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

I think the RP is suffering simply because people have realised how boring and repeatative UO has gotten and they're either quit or moved onto other games to feed their boredom. The GM's can't be blamed for this, if people wan't to leave that is their decision and all you can do is ask them if they're sure that's what they want and sneak in a line about how they'll be sorely missed..

Also the increased number in players coming over from over shards has left us with muddled up hours. Back in the day you'd have a great turnout at 8pm.. whereas with these days it's more around 11pm + due to the American hours and so on. Many guilds have tried to keep both groups happy.. the Europeans and the Americans. As far as I know both are rather happy!

I don't know if I'm making sense and if any of this is relavent as I've skipped the middle three pages of this thread.. but yes guilds have leaders, but it's not up to them to make sure their guild members are online - It's up to the members to make the choice. You could question the quality of events, but if anyone has a problem with it - Make your own bleedin' events or suggest something to your GM!

The Sosarian Olympic Games - Forums4Games
Here is the first of my events which'll hopefully bring together all the guilds and bridge that division - if only for a week. I'm not as experienced at being Baron of Vesper.. nor AGM of VTC - but I'm trying, as everyone else is.. so cut us some slack moaners.

Oh and also I think the one giant guild is a bad idea. Yeah it'd be great for a few weeks, but people will get bored. Different guilds give variety for RP and all guild offer something unique about them. As well as that, many people are stubborn and are devoted to their own guilds and wouldn't leave them ever. I myself am totally in love with VTC - I love the people and the enviroment. Yeah it can get really lonely sitting alone in the Swaggers for endless hours, but if it comes to that just get off your arse and go off on a hunt, sort out an event or go visit someone! I myself have found myself in Trinsic alot during the hours after 9pm when all events seem to have been done, and it is ofcourse where Van met his new wife. What I'm saying is, don't rely on GM's and AGM's or whatever to plan EVERYDAY out for you. UO offers so much more than RP if you're bored and don't be afraid to sort out your own gatherings or events!

Goodnight! xx

Re: Leaders? GMs?

Hello,

My two cents here. I left UO because Rping turned to Roeing. Meaning that spontaneousity has been replaced by drastic obligation to follow rules of "how to play the game" which in the best case, allowed unexperienced people to behave somehow in a medieval environment without annoying the most experienced ones, and in the worst case, ruined innovation and creativity for Roe`s sake.

As long as you guys will be willing to implement a "standardized way to RP" you`ll come up with billions of such philosophical masturbation threads.

Domo !

Re: Leaders? GMs?

I always pay for my account myself and feel therefore I am entitled to play how I want, when I want, where I want and with whom I want (conditioned only on the other's willingness to play with me). So long as I'm within the Terms of Service itself, I'll write and follow my own rules. Whoever wants to disagree with me is free to do so, but I'm pretty stubborn and will keep on doing as I have over the years.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

It's all very well refusing to accept any community rules, until you start PvPing. I'm sure the 12 year old 'rper' who constantly res kills similarly thinks he's being a free spirit by refusing to bow down to the evil authoritarian rules of the establishment, but it doesn't make for a healthy PvP environment, and RP without at least the potential for PvP is pretty shallow.

So if you don't like their rules, don't war them. ;)

I've always had the same attitude, tbh. You don't like my rules - peace me. Quivers / wood types was a classic example, lots of people had a moan... I didn't put a gun to your head and make you war Rbl.

Likewise with Thf in Trinsic. They didn't like how "overly" aggressive we were, but nobody ever actually peaced us and I never made them war me.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

As I just said, RP without the potential for PvP is pretty shallow. I'm just saying that you have to be prepared to accept at least -some- rules if you expect to be able to RP with anyone on a real level. No one's going to play with someone who thinks that since their char is supposed to be mega powerful they deserve to wear artifacts and play a necro archer, for example. At least not on this server. Specific rules are up for debate, but rules in themselves are necessary.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

End of the day, good roleplay is common sense. You chose to come play a game with other people, therefore presumably you chose to come and co-operate.
