Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

Couldn't vote. My reason for not playing Siege is the same as my reason for not playing at all. They killed the 3D client with no real replacement ready.

I did play Siege for a while. It was pretty good. You get PKed a lot less the bad old days (1997'ish). I played it enough to place an 18x18 plot. But always carry blood vials with you for the vampire girls...give the vampire some blood and they leave you alone. (that guild still around?)

Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

When I first started UO, I only created 1 character, and I played that way up until shortly after ML. So I imposed some of those Seige limitations on myself.

Being the packrat I am, the partial attraction in UO for me is fill up my house with junk I collect.

I don't play seige or other shards because I can't own a house there, and still keep my house on my home shard Lake Superior. ... I'm not one of those bastards that would create a house on EVERY shard on EVERY character just to have it.

Heck I'd even pay EA to have a second house. Did you hear that EA/Mythic ... I'd pay you a one time fee of 19.99 for an extra house token. I'd love to squirrel stuff away on Siege

Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

I'm saddend to see the replies. I guess playing a thief as long as I have, it's hard for me to understand the not wanting to pk'd reasoning. I learned death in UO is only a temporary status. You learn how to travel to avoid the pks. You have to adopt different skill types in your standard trammel templates (many mules or reasource gatherers have hiding and stealth). It's a very unique shard, and it's a shame more people can't adapt to play there. Personally, I feel it's the perfect shard for role-players. Yes, events can be disrupted by outsiders, but that should be able to become part of the planning and the execution of the event.

Losing pixels is part of it, I'm sure, but again, it's something I've adapted to. Learn how to get things from a bank to the house via gate. knowing where the hotspots for pks are and either staying away, or being prepared for their appearance.

*shrugs*

To each their own, and having the choice to stay is yours, but it is sad that you haven't been able to learn to enjoy the game as many others have in the past...la

I remember in the early days of Iantown Sunsword dropped by for a visit but it seems he got PK'ed by some thief. Not sure who...la.

Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

I would play siege if I didn't had to open a new account to place a house there. Also there's not enough population to make more interactions possible.

I have two chars there (one on each of my accounts) which I didn't played much as it was waayyy too quiet. I mean, getting PKed and all is not taken into considerations when you play for interactions I don't mind getting killed if there is something more than just hunt/pked rince and repeat

I'd gladly join an active player run town and all. But there is no lively place (at least not in my european schedule)

Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

I play a Siege thief, its a nice break from the get-rich-quick ratrace on my usual shard. My bankbox is overflowing with stuff, mostly because on Siege you never know what might come in handy!

Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

Personally, I would think the idea of housing space in plentiful amounts would spark some interest in the Euro roleplayers. Although your ping may not be the best, there are plenty of things a roleplayer can do without the need of a high speed connection. I was running around Malas updating my recently reinstalled UOAM and found islands of space in the far reaches of Luna. Player run towns could absolutely flourish. If you worry about defence, there is enough space to create these towns and keep the land open to friends only, or specific areas open for PvP.

I am going to start reaching out out to diferent communities in the near future and may even join into the roleplay (I typically roleplay a non-roleplayer)...la

Re: What keeps people from playing Siege?

I have a character on Siege, but just don't have enough free time to work on building skills. I've heard supposedly it's pretty easy to get up to around 70 in most skills, but then it slows to a crawl...

Also, I'd like to own a house on Siege, but my main shard is currently Atlantic and I have a house there. I wouldn't mind paying for another account, but I like the 720 skill cap, so don't want to create a new one. Anyone have a 4+ year old account with crappy characters they'd like to get rid of? ;)

You might be better off scanning the Stratics Siege forum. There are a lot of people posting accounts for sale, some are actually rather good...la

Maybe a noob question, but why end every post with "...la"?
