necro warrior question

ok so i just came back to UO after about 3 years, maybe more of not playing. so i wanna make a necro warrior
my template is
100 fenceing
100 tatics
100 poisoning
100 necro
100 ss
80 parry
100 bushido

that leaves 40 skill points to throw in to either focus or anatomy. im making this for PvM only. what do u think and what should i change? any and all help is needed. thanks in advance.

Re: necro warrior question

Hi wickedb,

Welcome to UOforums , and sorry, I meant to relpy to you sooner. My char Havok is a necro-warrior. I use him alot for rp'ing but he's ok in pvm.

I'd suggest bumping bushido, parry, and your weapon skill up as high as you can, 110 at the very least. Not sure what shard you play but most 110's are pretty reasonable (If your on Chessy let me know I can help hook ya up with some).

If I recall correctly at 105 necro you won't fail on casting vampiric embrace, just make sure you are well protected against fire damage.

I prefer swords over fencing just because its easier to find nice mana leeching weapons.

Don't bother with focus, just get a fast mana leech weapon and make sure you hit a lot (see: lighting strike ), and try and fit mana regen or lower mana cost into your armor.

Just keep in mind that your only form of healing is SS and you have to pause when you use it. Make sure to Honor your opponent, hit as much as you can (to achieve perfection & leech mana), use curse weapon spell to also leech life and vampiric embrace and it's not a bad template.

Mine is something like this:

Swords 110
Bushido 110
Parry 110
Tactics 100
Necromancy 105
SS-110
Rest in magic resist

Hope this helps some! Good Luck!

-Havok

Re: necro warrior question

Necromancers use SS (Spirit Speak) for their healing needs. I think the Bushido also helps them regenerate.

Re: necro warrior question

Curse weapons + lightning strike + vamp form pretty much negates the need to use SS during a fight most of the time.

wickedb I don't have much experience using poisoning so I can't really say.

Also for using bushido & parry you get a better advantage using a fast two-handed weapon then you do using weapon & shield.

I know with the vamp/sammy temp ornate axes were very popular (with high ssi & ml).

Re: necro warrior question

Do you ever use Confidence to regen also? I've been thinking of 'upgrading' my warrior and that is something I'm toying with doing.

Re: necro warrior question

I probally don't use confidence as much as I should. As long as you are hitting while in Vamp form and the curse weapon spell is active you will be leeching life every time you hit.

Alot of times I use "summon familiar" and have a dark wisp for extra mana but I believe if you use the vampire bat familiar it also gives back a portion of life to you for any damage it does.

Re: necro warrior question

I've been considering a necro warrior but one thing is turning me off: reagents. It's not that I can't afford them, I just hate dying and then having to go back to the house and restock. Maybe it's possible to get 100 LRC on a nice warrior mod suit? Would like some comments from you guys who do play necrowarriors as to how you deal with reagents, or if it really isn't that much of a pain. (obvious I didn't play before LRC was introduced, I suppose)

I already have a gimp Vampire sammy, that's not really what I'm thinking of. I was going to go more for a character that fully abuses the awesomeness that is Wraith form and Curse Weapon. As long as I'm doing enough damage, Wraith form is basically infinite mana, and Curse Weapon is just amazing. I do plan on doing big solo stuff with this guy, just don't have him completely planned out yet.

Re: necro warrior question

A good start:
120 melee
120 bushi
120 parry
100-105 necro (strange is 100% at 105 I believe)
100-110 SS (use bloodwood talisman for +5 necro, +10 SS)
100 tactics

With enough skill gain items, you can also fit chivalry in the equation. Consecrate weapon helps a lot PvM, as does EoO. And with necro, the skill gain items aren't that hard to find. You may not even need to sacrifice other benifits for the skill gains.

The double or triple leeches (CW/Wraith/weapon)are great to have, but you can't always kill big things that always move at running speed (paragon balrons, for example).

I always carried reagents and never stocked up on them, since they're easily bought 20 at a time from vendors in Haven. You never really need a lot of reagents either unless you're doing longer hunts like peerless or spawning. (You can always rebuy in Doom, reagents are cheap) The only thing I ever needed a lot of was pig iron for the curse weapons.

It shouldn't be too hard to put together a non medable 100% LRC suit, as most smiths I've seen price them VEEEEERY low. It seems LRC isn't desirable if you aren't a mage

Re: necro warrior question

Farsight, any reason you take parry over anatomy? The damage bonus is pretty substantial.
