Good shield?

So what constitutes a good shield?

Paladin :
FC 1
DCI 15
max resists
Str Req as low as possible (when you are hit by a debuff spell).
Self Repair is nice to have...

Mage :
SC (no -1)
DCI 15
Max Resists
Str Req as low as possible

If you find old time shields, they can have HCI 15, so add that and you have a winner ;)

With the new change to runic tools, you can "easily" craft such shields with valorite ingots and copper hammers.

What would max resists be?
And is it worth enhancing any found?

There are also shields around, that have HCI as well as DCI. But those do not drop anymore, so they tend to be expensive.

Shields always have 1 single point of resist when unenhanced. You can see the resists gained by enhancing here:
UO Stratics - Mining

Imo, the best shield would be a valorite shield with
Self repair 2+
15% HCI
15% DCI
FC 1

Most people don't think so. Personally I do not care about Reflect Damage, espically in PvM it's not very good.
Just imagine you got a shield with 10% reflect and you are fighting an ogre lord. He hits you for 40 points of damage, which are roughly 40% of your life force. You reflect 4 points of damage back to him, which is less than 1% of his life force.

So, no, I don't think Reflect physical damage is good at all.
Might be different if you go for a 100% Reflect armor in pvp, but I'm not too expierienced with that...

In RL, I live with a retired inventor, mad scientist, tinkerer and general collector of anything any normal person would not look twice at (scrap metal, old motors, unidentifiable chemicals, you name it).

RPD will flag you in PvP, so I wouldn't use it for now

Though they are looking into it... Or did they already?

And in PvM it's soooo useless

Unless you can make a suit with mad resists and 100% rpd. And if possible Self Repair.

I'm kinda partial to my DCI 14, HCI 13, FC1, Verite enhanced shield.

On a PvM dexxer I also have a DCI 13, HCI 11, RPD 11 Valorite shield that is pretty pimp as well. Neither shield was in the economy bin hehe.

only thing missing is sc but I use it for my dexxer. Do yas think it's a good one?
