I would agree. I loathe the abuse of stealth. Admittedly I became a lot more tolerant of it after taking up stealth - the UO environment is terribly uinteractive and you can't exactly emote whilst sneaking around. I'd happily emote climbing over walls and running along roof tops or hopping from tree to tree or something like that, but quite frankly I just don't trust a majority of my fellow roleplayers. Generally as a rule I try to not stealth too ridiculously obviously, though of course I imagine I've been guilty of it at times.
I still hate the abuse of hiding, mind. Anyone who makes a habit of hiding in plain sight should simply have the skill banned. I think it'd anger someone in this thread in particular if I started pointing fingers, but I can think of one highly regarded (hah, sort of anyway) roleplay veteran that's been LoS hiding shamelessly for about a decade! I guess it's different opinions. But, yeh, since ML tracking abuse has just been horrific. Everyone and their aunt is like the best tracker in the world and can miraculously do it at full sprint. I think at times it's fairly justified, I've seen Klion do it on a horse in the middle of the keep - that seems fair. I mean from his vantage point and with the minimal cover in the keep* he's going to have a good look. * that said, that does bring me back to point A about using your imagination in stealth. There's nothing to say that "lol hedlyn is by the tradepost get yr xbows out" isn't ACTUALLY, say, on the roof.

Hello
I'm the Guild master of the Community Of Skara brae. I think my community will move to another city to have One city of RP. I think all guild must to think about that, i suppose it's hard for some guild to leave theym town etc, but it will probably better for rp. About the RP history to move other city in another one, it could be easy to find one. What city ? i could propose Skara brae hehe. But i think the better place is Vesper, because in Vesper haven't too many no rp player and when you'll go at the bank and to other building you'll probably see only rp player. and a big community of rper are in Vesper too... for the building of players, you could build at the North of Vesper (near the bridge) and in the actually village Of Vesper at the South West. then people who lived in the north could be a big community of refuge (other guild who moved to vesper). And i think it could be realy funny fot the rp, mabe we will have some tention with People who lived at the south West verses North. Sorry for my poor english language hehe |

Without side-traking onto stealth, if i get passivly revealed i tend to insta hide, because the revealing wasnt roleplayed in anyway its just someone with detect hidden skillpoints minding their own business.
Moving guilds cant work very well, Trinsic and Yew arent going to move City now are they?

Yes i understand it's hard for all guild to leave theym city but it could be very fabulous to have one city with many Rper.
I think the solution is: make a meeting with all guild master to talk about that. |

How about this solution: You folks that so badly want to move town to centralize rp, just do this ?
I do not understand why a meeting for Gm's is needed for this, because im sure there will be gm's and other community members such as myself that will NOT move town with their homes (mind you i would be interested in roleplaying in a centralized place, i am just not willing to make new characters or move my houses). There will be people joining, there will be people who will not be joining and maybe even people that will join at a later time once this centralized rp thing actually works out. (although i really doubt this centralized rp thing is gonna happen cuz.... 17 pages of discussion and still no one has stepped forward to set this up)

Here are my ideas to help us building a RP city. I am sure succeeding in such a project would be a lot more interesting for everybody. We got a lot fewer during the last few years, and for that reason we do need to get closer.
The first thing to do is finding a coherent story that would explain the reason why we all had to leave our territories. I thought about something but please, feel free to let us know if you have an other idea and we will talk about it. Here’s my idea: A disaster: We could imagine that a huge earthquake devastated the inner lands and caused several tsunamis in some places all over the world. We could also imagine the awakening of the volcano near Trinsic that would force the survivors to flee. Ok now here’s why I think Vesper could be a good choice. The City of Vesper The city of Vesper is a really good possibility I think, its size is just perfect, not too big, not too small, and surrounded by the sea. That would force the players to centralize their activities around the bank and the two main bridges that would connect the two very distinct communities I’ll tell you about later. Vesper also has its own graveyard where an undead guild could settle in and interact with other guilds. The communities The communities had to find a haven in the city of Vesper but the actual inhabitants don’t really want to share their land so they ask the new comers to move north of the city. After a little while we should be able to build houses for the guilds that would move there. Tensions would appear between the inhabitants, living in the south west part of the city and the new comers living in the north part of the city and well… a lot of events could be created around this idea. We could even imagine that during the next elections, one of the leaders of the new comers wins and becomes the new baron, causing a great despair in the heart of the inhabitants. Ok so that was my ideas about that project and I’m sure you guys will think about a lot of other things. Making this project real will be something really tough, I know leaving our cities won’t be easy at all! We worked for years trying to build a village outside of Skara Brae and we made it, we have a lot of buildings in the Spiritwood but we are ready to sacrifice that in the hope of giving a new life to our great community!! Let’s meet in game and have a real and serious conversation about that! |

Gwen we are just wpeaking in peace about that subject ! i see you are very nervous when we are speaking about move house. But you know in my guild we have 17 house in the village and if we décide to move for the new Rp town, all of my member will probably follow me. my house is the best you can see near Skara Brae but if we can do a better rp live i can trade mine for a 7x7 hehe.

Gwen's response here is a justified one. Whatever comes out of this must have viable solutions for all parts, even those choosing not to participate. A disaster like Yhit mentioned might not be a bad idea, however. In fact, it might be the only way to go about this.

Delucia is overrun by the Savages and it's populace slaughtered. The Royal Army retakes the town and soon afterwards the Great Council puts out a call for civilised, Britannian, and above all else loyal colonists to repopulate it. There you've got an excuse for Loyalists to move. The rebel authorities aren't best pleased with this extension of royalist might, and so do their best to halt the colonisation - jointly seizing power in Papua to be used as their HQ. The most blessed Church of our lord the Avatar in Yew calls for the Lost Lands to be taken in the name of the Higher Being. The Guardsmen Militia are sent forth to purge a stretch of land and establish the long awaited New Yew. The Orcs near Delucia are convinced into joining the Shadow Alliance..
